The Interview Showcase #71- Exclusive Talk With A developer/Steem witness

Welcome to the 71st edition of “The interview showcase...." and my 41st show for 2023. You can't wait to discover what this edition is all about, please follow along as I showcase this interesting user. This program just put a little smile on my face despite the various challenges surrounding me at the moment. I hope I can do this again next time.

They also share some tips that can help other users understand the blockchain and correctly use it. Sometimes they seek valuable suggestions here to help them solve some of their challenges.

On this week's show, I had a conversation with a developer/ Steem witness who is working hard to add some spices to the Steemit platform. He is from South Korea and his name is @etainclub.

: Hi Etain, it’s good to have you on my show finally despite being a very bad time for me…, I like some of your development in the blog and I will like to know.. what inspired you to start developing?

🔶Etainclub: The first app that I developed was an instant helping app which seems like an Uber taxi app. A user who needs help is connected with the first person who responds to the help. This app was inspired by the Be My Eyes service which connects the blinds with volunteers. I thought this kind of instant help could be used not only for the blind but also for the elders or for ones who do know much about the Internet or apps.

The app was published in Google Play and Apple Store, but it was removed.

I have a plan to renew this service as a web3 app. The concept is tried here:

In short, I think apps can change how we humans behave.

: What's the difference between when you joined Steemit and now?

🔶Etainclub: There were many creative services when I first joined steemit in 2017.
But no services in my mind now. Some tools like steemworld.org are excellent but they cannot bring about the mass adoption of Steem.

: What is the work of a witness and what does it involve to be one…?

🔶Etainclub: Here are a few examples of the work of a witness:

• Managing witness/seed/Rpc nodes
• Improving Steem blockchain core codes
• Developing dapps on the Steem blockchain

The minimum work is to run a witness node which improves the stability of the Steem blockchain..

: How has the Community Responded to your tool in terms of usage?

🔶Etainclub: I work as a solo developer. So the number of users is not many, around a few hundred. However, I am sure that my developments and source code influenced other developers and communities.

: What do you think should be the next step in development within Steemit?

🔶Etainclub: As you know Steemit is one of dapp on Steem blockchain. Currently, neither Steemit nor Steem is successfully attracting users, which poses a significant problem.

W/hat we need is a killer service of dapp on Steem. The killer service will bring about mass adoption. That's why I am trying a variety of dapps.

: Do you have any development projects on the platform or outside Steemit?

🔶Etainclub: My main platform is Steem blockchain. Most of my apps use Steem blockchain as the backend. Other than Steem blockchain, I frequently use Firebase services to support features which are not provided by Steem blockchain such as push notifications.

: Tell us about some of your tools/ Dapps that you would like the entire blog to know about?

🔶Etainclub: Recently I released the two services: ETAKOO and ECble.
ETAKOO is a service in which users can sell and buy mobile coupons such as Starbucks coupons using Steem coin.
The service site is https://etakoo.etain.club

ECble is a web3 anonymous blogging service in which a user creates a post anonymously and still the user claims the author reward. This is possible by using the private-public crypto key algorithm. The purpose of this app is to let the user write what they have inside their mind without worrying about revealing their privacy.

: What do you think users can do to attract more prolific developers to create more useful tools in the blog?

🔶Etainclub: The key point is that there are few profits for a new developer to Steem. And the number of users is too small compared to other major blogging services. As you might know, there is a fund for Steem development (SPS) but it is not working due to too high criterion which requires support of more than 50M SP from users.
https://steemworld.org/sps-proposals?login=etainclub Here I applied to the fund but I got only support of 2M SP which is way less than the 50M SP.

The Hive's development fund is working more actively. Steem needs to activate the usage of this SPS fund.

: .Do you think it would be good to have something similar to the crypto academy, but as a "programmers’ school"? if created, would you participate as a teacher in it?

🔶Etainclub: The AI's capability is so great and it is improving at this moment. In my opinion, most users do not need to learn programming. We have to consider the AI's thread seriously.
The answer to the question is no. I will not participate in it.

: Personally, as a witness, what do you look for in contents before upvoting?

🔶Etainclub: The first thing is the intention of the author. Why does this author write a post?
When I feel the sincerity, I mostly upvote with my full voting weight. For now, I upvote posts created by my services..

: What’s a typical day for you as regards your job in the blog?

🔶Etainclub: Most of the time I develop Steem dapps. There are a few more dapps to develop.
I often think about new features of dapps..

: Do you think Steemit is a place to create a better future or just to catch fun?

🔶Etainclub: Steemit as-is is nothing more than a blogging service. It is very hard to get reasonable rewards by writing quality posts. The number of active developers is too few to develop new services.
Most of the top witnesses are inactive and just mining Steem coins. These are the current situations of Steem and steemit. I who is one of the most active developers is not supported by the foundation and the community.

: Hopefully you would get the assistance you need soon. Maybe a little more push for users to know you and this means going out of your comfort zone sometimes.

: Apart from steemit, do you have any other life interests? Like hobbies?

🔶Etainclub: My hobbies are meditation, yoga, and walking barefoot. I have a great interest in healing others. I research on caner therapy.
