Horned lizards enjoying the Arizona sunshine
While exploring out in the Copper Basin near Prescott, Arizona I spotted not one, but TWO horned lizards out sunning themselves or perhaps looking for some tasty ants to eat.
Amazing to see how well they blend blend in with the surroundings and would be easy to overlook unless they moved.
I'm not sure which species these are but most likely Short Horned Lizards (Phrynosoma hernandesi) and despite their spiky fearsome appearance they are quite harmless.
I didn't try to pick them up so as not to disturb them too much.
Hope you all enjoyed these little Arizona wonders.
