Good day my dear steemians today i will love to talk on the topic occupation, but first of all i want to let you know about occupation. Occupation is what a person does for a living. It is the means of livehood of a person. Teaching,law, medicine, trading and agriculture are occupations people engage into earn a living. This enable them to live well in the society and rear families.

Types of occupation

  • Extractive occupation: This involves obtaining raw materials and natural resources from the soil and sea. Farming, fishing, hunting,quarring and mining are example of extractive occupation. The workers in this discussion of occupation make raw materials readily available to those who turn the raw materials into finished goods

Extractive industries provide the following:

  • Crude oil for petroleum products
  • Iron ore for making various types of iron for building houses,bridges, vehicles and house appliances.
  • Cocoa for beverage drinks, chocolate sweet, chocolate drinks etc.
  • Cotton for clothing.

The extractive industry is also called the primary industry because it deals with the early stages of production. Raw materials are in their primary form. The fisherman,for example, catches fish which he sells to a buyer. The buyer cleans it and make it ready for cooking,which is the finished form for consumption.

Manufacturing occupation
Manufacturing: This is the making of finished goods.manufacturing occupation involves the process of turning raw materials into finished product, usually with the use of the hand or machines. There are serveral occupation involved in transforming raw materials into finished goods.

Some individuals are involved in the operation of machines which turn raw materials into finished goods. The machines operator, the engineer who takes care of the design and the supervisor who assign responsibilities to worker are all in y manufacturing occupation.

The manufacturing industries which make good available for homes,offices and schools are also known as secondary producers because they turn materials from the extractive (primary industry into usable consumer products.

Manufactured goods include textbooks, beverages, sweet, orange juice, radio, television, vehicles, clothing material into finished goods.

  • construction occupation
    Construction is the putting together of different finished materials to build roads, railway,houses, cement, block,and sand are used. The professionals in construction include iron benders, road construction workers brick layers , capenters, civil engineers, builders, architect, mechanical engineers, plumber etc.

  • Commercial occupation
    Commercial occupation involves the marketing and distribution of products. It includes the activities of individuals who are involved in the transportation, goods for the purpose of wholesale,retail and warehousing. The people engaged in commercial occupation ensure that goods get to the consumers. Commercial occupation also includes activities that aid trade, such as communication, insurance,finance,tourism and advertising.

  • Services
    Service refer to the particular skills that a person has and can offer to people who need them for a few it does not include produce good or visible items. There are two kinds of services: direct services and indirect services.

  • Direct services: direct services are services that bring the service provider in direct contact with the consumer. The consumer,who receives the service,pays for such service. The house keeper, the gate-man,night watchman and family doctor all provide direct services. A house owner pays for the services rendered to his or her household or doctor. When people attend a musical concert,they pay for it and enjoy it directly.

  • Indirect services
    Indirect services are occupations which involves the provision of services to the public and not directly to a private customer or client. The salaries of such service providers are paid by the government though taxes collected from its citizens. The government provides services to the citizens indirectly though worker in government ministries, agencies and parastcitals though health workers, teachers sanitary workers,police officers military officers and so on, government provides indirect services to the public.

In conclusion I hope I have been to talk about occupation.without occupation we don't have any source of living.ce
