Hola beautiful STEEMians, trust our day is going smoothly.

This morning after normal routine, I decided to walk around our garden at home, then I realized that there is one particular plant we use as alternative for vegetables. One of the major thing I was told when growing up about the plant's leave is that, it has spiky leaves and that when you come in contact with the leaf/plant, your body will begin to scratch you. So, since that time, I tagged the plant not to be a good plant.

The funniest thing about this plant is that everybody do talk about it that it is sweet when cooked but it is rarely consume.
Then, I begin to ask why???

So, i'll like to share with you guys some of my findings about the plant.

The plant has several names, I think that should give us a glimpse about it uniqueness. The plant is called Ugu Jerusalem, the Yorubas call it by Efo Iyana-Ipaja, the Igbos call it Ugu-Oyinbo, and the pidgin English is "Hospital too far". It scientific name is Jatropha tajorensis.
I mean by now you should be wondering why all these name for just one plant.

The plant have been in our garden for about a decade and the major thing we use it for at home is to cook - source as vegetable. This plant is majorly consume by people from the western region of Nigeria. One of is name "Hospital too far" implies one of it's uniqueness as a healing plant. It has numerous benefit which time will not permit me so share unless you guys want me to write a book on it.
