Are stilt houses cute or scary? Louisiana, USA (4 pics)

On a little less than 640 km, Louisiana runs along the Gulf of Mexico, giving way to nice landscapes and beaches, but the rise in the water level has the effect of giving way to a phenomenon that creates particular scenery with raised houses; erosion of the coast.

This reality has been around for ever, everywhere on the planet and it grows year after year, wiping out villages and islands forever.

Many people left these areas, but others, more daring, adapted to this aspect by building houses on stilts.

Classic houses stand side by side with raised houses all along the coast of Louisiana.

We have to believe that some people will not want to stay if the water level comes to rise, unlike others.

I don't know if I would be the type to take that risk or not.

Are those houses cute or scary? Not sure either, but they are very special!

I know that efforts are being made to slow down the erosion in Louisiane, but is it already too late?

The fact that New Orleans is surrounded by water surely does not help the cause; let's hope for the best.
