Contest: Art Commenting Contest
#artonsteemit
What is the difference between make up, tatoos, the use of henna and body painting? Is body painting art or does it depend on who uses the human body for a canvas?
Is body painting for carnival only or are those living paintings (sculptures?) the real artist or is it the photographer?
Prize:
4 UVF for the best comment

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about makeup, henna and tattoos. You made a good point by saying that these three we do to make look ourselves better or feel better.
If it comes to bodyart the human body is the canvast so it's clear skin is needed to do so. We can do it ourselves but that will be hard.
What to think about the bodypaint artist? I like to show you the next video. To me this is art. The painting is and here are 2 artists: thepainting and the turtle.
Is it possible not to be amazed by what we see here?
@newton666, @jpegg, @cryptopie, @cicisaja did you ever see this bodypaint art?
Thanks for the mention @wakeupkitty, I think bodypainting's also an art even it's not permanent. sometimes, it's not just about the result but also the process of creating it by the artists. they do have some skills that not everybody has it. even the light's show which last for several hours also an art.
amazing and special technic always impressive when they put their best effort to the body paintings process, then when we see it.. it's impressive. This reminds me to several funny videos on youtube about the body painting street artists in India, it's fun!
You mention a good point. The process where art is created. That is most likely what many call art. A thought or idea worked out, used to create something unique.
If you have such a video please share it.
I resently saw videos of girls painting their own faces which is, in front of the mirror, also unique.
🍀♥️
I will if I ever encounter one which is stunning, Im not a fan of tiktok, snack or instagram.. I seldom watch videos unless there's something I really need to see. most of the time, I enjoy reading and watching video which include in the posts.
I remember 2 years ago i went to the national museum in Jakarta, I entered a room which performed a light art something and I made a short video to record the reaction of my friends. I dunno why, I could recalled how interesting it was, it's just amazing.
I'm kinda person who easily amazed by something beautiful and meaningful, especially if it related to history, nature and human interest. so I can say that it is so easy to please me. all i can think is having fun with those around you and take that as a gift from heaven.
Thanks for sharing this @wakeupkitty, Love you!
While you tell this I suddenly think of the "water orgel" I liked as a child. Colourful water moves on the sound of music. I still like it but I can't find a video where the sound is good to share. So this time you have to do without a video.
You will not find me on TikTok or whatever. I simply don't like it and it's too much trouble keeping all those accounts alive. Only lately I visit YouTube more and share a video about a short film, and some music to relax.
I assume you saw a lightshow in the museum?
What impressed me once very much, it's years ago, was a firework show about the "Slag bij Den Brielle" (fight of the Duch against the Spanish). I never saw something as great as that. It was art in every way.
Since we remember this it's art even though there's nothing to hang on the wall or to put on a table.
Thanks for commenting again, It's appreciated.
Thank you for stopping by and your vote @steemcurator01/ @solaymann. Such a pity you don't leave a personal comment. I would have liked to hear your thoughts about what is said. I wish you a good evening.
Talking about comment appreciation 😄 i just saw 2 curators voted on my comments. I have no idea that they already running that too.
Nice though i dunno what's the standards to get the voted. Somehow, the value is bigger than what i get from a post. Now it's challenging to not just type whatever irresponsible comments just to have fun 👈 this is me😄🫣 all i care is to have fun.
The standards to get voted is a good, quality post or comment. It depends on the curator (SC) team what they vote most for. How they find you? Through someone else is the fastest way. The average curator will not spend the entire day looking for a good post or comment like me. I just looked at @saintkelvin17 and noticed he has time to write 3 posts per day long before me. Perhaps he can explain how he find the time next to an offline life?
Fun is allowed and I hope you won't give up on it. Steemit is social media and meant for a hobby and not as a job bringing stress since it isn't a job, you are on no one's payroll.
I edit my post and share my thoughts about body artist.
Thank you for your participation
Gpod to see you put effort in sharing your thought. 👍
Thanks for bringing my attention to this comment contest...
Body painting is not new. There are so many motivations for decorating the body. It is done with jewelry, distinctive clothing, and sometimes painting or tattooing. For those who identify with temporary material body it is done for some sort of sense pleasure. The consciousness is "I am this body." And enjoying it is all there is.
On the other hand there is the transcendentalist who identifies with the spirit within the body. Sees the body as a covering or a vehicle. They also may sometimes paint the body. But the motivation is a little different. In meditation a Vaishnava yogi applies clay from a sacred river (called tilak from the River Yamuna) on specific locations on his or her body for protection.
Protection from what? And how will clay give protection?
Protection from illusion. From forgetfulness of their spiritual self. A kind of spiritual armor protecting the consciousness from distraction and gliding down into forgetfulness.

@grebmot - 4 UVF for you
Thanks for engaging with us.
Thank you! I obviously don't deserve it, but I won't complain :-)
🤣 You are welcome
They are all art in different forms and their functions and markets differs. You can't own, sell, nor inherit a body paintings like you can do with Canvas paintings and sculptures.
Though they are all forms of beautiful expressions and they all have their experts and professionals. I do not think we could agree that any is superior to the other even though one is more tedious than the other but they are all serving their beautiful purposes and that's the main deal.
Is it because they serve a purpose or because the bodypaint artist put his soul into it?
It's all soulful expressions and yes, they all serve their different purposes which makes them recognized in the first place.
I agree with @tezzmax; they’re all forms of art, each expressed in a unique style.
Tattoos, however, are much more personal than the others mentioned, as they permanently remain on a person’s body. People get tattoos for a variety of reasons, often deeply personal and connected to their culture or life experiences. It’s art intertwined with personal meaning.
Body painting brings a certain ‘aliveness’ to artwork, unlike the static nature of traditional art forms. It’s uniquely captivating, especially with the thrill of seeing the art move—turning to face you, walking toward you, or around you. It’s like witnessing a work of art come to life.
Beautiful insight.
There are all sorts of tattoos gor example that number you get in a concentration camp or a gangs-tattoo. Prisoners take tattoo after tattoo but it is frequently out of boredom.
The average tattooshop isn't famous because of the artists at work. More personal it can be for the receiver because it's on his/her skin but so it bodypaint. In both cases the canvas is the body.
In both cases an artist is needed.
