Your believe in think before acting is true. Eveyone needs to think before making decisions. I believe it when you say your practical nature makes you less sensitive to emotions. People that are quite pragmatic can really understand what you mean. Truely what works for others might not work for you. So making your own decisions can give you a lifetime experiences.
