SEC17/W3|Experiences come with age or circumstances!

in Incredible India8 months ago (edited)

Let me first get maturity out of the way.

One thing I can tell you is that maturity has nothing to do with age.

For many of us, maturity is one of those things that is difficult to divine. Yes, we can grab a dictionary or search Aunty Google, but what we will get is a definition or an explanation. Defining maturity goes far deeper than that.

I tell you what, let me put you to the test. Let’s see how mature you are right here on Steemit.

  • As a mature Steemian, you will take responsibility and not depend on others. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you take ownership instead of blaming others. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you can motivate yourself to do better all the time and not depend on others to motivate you. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you will face challenges gracefully and not run away from them. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you will be one of them who says, “I have tried.” Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you make plans long ahead. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you work constantly towards the goals you have set for yourself without taking shortcuts. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you understand that you have to work hard to get somewhere in Steemit. Your work ethic is your best measurement. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you have a good sense of duty and do not focus on yourself but on others on the platform. You will vote and comment. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you know what it is to commit and will stick with your decision over a long period of time. Y/N
  • As a mature Steemian, you are willing to sacrifice that time to write a decent post. Y/N

This, my dear Steemian friends, is how I define maturity, not only on Steemit but also in real life.

Does experience come with age or circumstances?

Before I can blink an eye, my answer is going to be… BOTH!

The expert, Erik Erikson, the psychologist, will tell you that when we go through life, there are eight different stages that we experience.

Infancy: Birth to 18 months
Toddlerhood: 18 months to 3 years
Preschool years: 3 to 5 years
Early school years: Between 5 and 12 years
Adolescence: 12 to 18 years
Young adulthood: 18 to 40 years
Middle adulthood: 50 to 65 years
Late adulthood: You are older than 65

I believe that through all these stages, you learn something about life. From talking, to sitting, to crawling, to walking, to growing in confidence, to learning to read and write, to the changes in your body, to being accepted by your friends, to the challenges of life, to the worries about your children.

You never stop learning! Not until the day that you put your head down for the last time.

I’ve discussed age, but what about circumstances?

The Oxford Dictionary tells us that the synonyms for the word circumstances are “situation, conditions, set of conditions, state of affairs, things, position, events, turn of events, incidents, occurrences, happenings, and episodes.”

Experience comes from each and every circumstance in our lives. Yes, some are good, and others might not be so good.

I want to take you back to Steemit and ask you another question.

Does your experience come with the number of years that you are on Steemit, or does it come because of the circumstances you experience?

Oh yes, I can hear you say… BOTH!

Guess what? I agree with you one hundred percent! Age and circumstances go hand in hand. You need them both to enable you to build the best experience that you could ask for.

What is required of you is to master the lessons that you learn from each circumstance, not only on Steemit but also in real life.

It looks like my age is on the table today, as the next question might just give my age away.

Do I believe older people can also learn many things from youth?

Not many things. What age and circumstances taught the older person, the young cannot learn in less years. In the same breath, the elderly can for sure learn from the young.

Just yesterday, my stepson told me that I must learn to relax. I am way too serious. Now if I look at him, who comes from school, throws his suitcase in his room, jumps on his bed, takes out his phone, and then asks what there is for him to eat, then I have a lot to learn from him. One thing is sure: the youth these days know how to relax. Those, young adults.

Technology, or, should I rather say, “letting go,” is not easy when you get older. You get so used to doing something your way that you are not even prepared to try another way. Let’s take the usage of my mobile phone. I don’t think I use 20% of what it is capable of doing. If I want to change anything, look for something, or download an application, I call my stepson to help. I am always amazed at how quickly he gets it right.

The youth are far ahead of the elderly when it comes to technology and we can learn from them.

I would like to close my post with the youth and Steemit. It is the youth who are more into crypto trading. It is the youth that are more familiar with marketing Steemit on social media, and it is the youth who can make those awesome marketing videos that take six hours to edit.

I've come to the conclusion that in Steemit, we all swim together, from the plankton to the whales, no matter our age, nor our experience. We need each other!

I couldn't stop myself from replying but my hands were shaking because of the laugh! No one can beat your sense of humour! I mean how you invent Google is Aunty and not Uncle!

Do you know how to bring a reader I can't hold myself to read your content at various times.
You explained each point so logically and appropriately while explaining the deeds of your stepson;
I can see everything happening in front of my eyes.

Besides SCE taking some time to share your content inside the community, it would be a lesson for us to learn about enhancing our writing skills.
Thank you ma'am for your participation.
East or west my mom is the best. Now don't ask me who is best in the North and South!🥰🤗🫂😘💝💗🫰

Good morning, my darling daughter!

Haha! It is my turn to laugh, and that is so early in the morning.
How I enjoyed your comment! Thank you!

If there is just one Steemian that can learn from my posts, I am as happy as a pig in Palestine!

As for North and South... I zip my fingers; I won't ask. (•ิ‿•ิ)

I wish you a fantastic day! (づ๑•ᴗ•๑)づꕤ

North and South
My mamma don't open your mouth!😘🤫

Very insightful, I've taken time to read the explanation of maturity as you have stated above, I totally agree with you. I mean what's is the essence of maturity without taking responsibility, accepting faults and working them? Maturity is truly not all about the age.

Exactly, the youths are better in the area of scientific discoveries, science and technology.

Best wishes ma'am!

Oh yes! I agree 100% with you. If you don't take responsibility for your age, your experience, and your circumstances, you will fail as far as maturity goes.
It is also what I call the vicious circle of life. (•ิ‿•ิ)

Thank you for the visit and the engagement! It is appreciated. 🎕

Absolutely, maturity isn't about age; it's about taking responsibility, staying motivated, and committing to growth. Experience comes from both age and life's circumstances. We continuously learn from each stage of life. Both older people and youth have valuable lessons to offer each other, making collaboration essential for growth.

it's about taking responsibility, staying motivated, and committing to growth

This is such a great statement. How I wish for many more young people to learn from this. Everything in life depends on what we, as individuals, choose to make of it. I'm of the older generation, and right through my life, I have strived to achieve just this.

Thank you for the visit, the engagement, and the great comment!

Thank you so much for sharing one of the most wonderful content with us in which you have provided a bank of questions and by reading all these questions I can understand and I can identify a easily that now I am mature enough.

My experience at steemit honestly speaking I got experience through number of years I spent at the platform as well as circumstances through which I have to pass from start of my journey still so now it's clear that I am with you that experience comes with both age and circumstances.

I really enjoyed your participation I wish you much success

Oh yes! A BOTH! It is the years and circumstances that add to our experiences on Steemit AND real life.

If you had to ask me what my thoughts were about you and maturity, I would have told you... mature!

Thank you for the visit, the engagement, and for enjoying my post. Oh yes, let me not forget the good wishes.

Thank you! ☕

Respected Madam,@patjewell
Instead of giving answers to this competition with all your ability, you made it a new contest, I enjoyed reading your questionnaire a lot. How do you think of all this? If you are asked to prepare the question paper of any subject of any university of our country, then almost all the candidates will fail. [This is not a joke]
May God keep your knowledge like this.
with respect and honor

Haha! Thank you for this awesome comment! You've put a smile on my face.
I tell you what, send me your answer paper, and I will mark it for you.
I am sure the result will be: MATURE with a A+

Thank you for the engagement and the good wishes. It is appreciated! ☕

Aunty Google... Is women not wiser than men? (•ิ‿•ิ)
All credit goes to the women of this earth!

Kids! These days, it seems that they are always one step ahead of me. You are lucky that you have two that can help you and that you can learn from.

Thank you! I enjoyed your visit and your engagement. 🎕

Thank you so much for educating us, your thoughts is in line with mine, experience comes with both age and circumstances, like the youth who are far experienced than the aged when it comes to technology and the aged far experienced than the youth when it comes to life lessons.
I wish you good luck with the contest.

Ah! It is good to know that there are more that agrees with me. (•ิ‿•ิ)
One thing I can tell you is, let's not be fooled by maturity, experience, age, nor circumstances.

Ah! You think you lack maturity when it comes to Steemit.
Now let me tell you something: there is no perfect person and, for sure, no perfect Steemian. You don't have to score 100% to be mature, and from what I have seen from your posts, comments, etc. on Steemit, you are very close to getting that 100%.
You are a great example for many, my friend!

As for the youth, we can just keep on loving them. Soon they will discover the truth for themselves, especially when they have their own children!

Thank you for the awesome engagement!

Your own experience about learning from your stepson and acknowledging the strengths of youth in your areas like technology and in crypto trading are really humble.

You write that we all need each other on Steemit as well, regardless of age or experience, is a beautiful reminder of the importance of learning. Keep growing, learning, and sharing your thoughts with us!

I wish you all the best for your participation. Thanks for making this 😊🍀❤️:-)

It is for me to say thank you for not only stopping to read my post but also for the engagement.
I am not young anymore, and I am still learning. Okay, I must admit, sometimes I turn my head to the other side because I don't want to learn. (•ิ‿•ิ)

Thank you so much ma'am for your kind words, i wish you good health 💝

Thank you! Good health to you also. 🎕
