I strongly believe age plays a major role in helping us to get more experience much more than circumstances because the more we grew older, the more we become wise
You are absolutely right but exposure and experience also play a significant role in maturity. There are certain aspects we are as young people are more experienced than our old people. That's why young learns from the old and vice versa
