RE: Campus Connect Engagement League week 1- Effects of Asuu strike on students in Nigeria

in CampusConnect3 years ago

The strike that has been upon federal schools in Nigeria is something the government needs to look into. However, due to the fact that the educational background of Nigerian youths is not cherished by the government, youths tend to become insightful individuals in the country.

Viewing from my perspective, this strike is not going tk be called of anytime soon because the people governing us are basically not interested in schools, but are interested in how to win the upcoming elections afterwhich they partake in the embezzlement of public funds. Frankly speaking, the government called Nigerian youths "lazy" some months back, but to be honest, our youths ain't lazy. We strive hard become better people in life but the government make our dreams seems irrelevant to us.

Another reason why i said this strike will not bw called off anytime soon ks because of the amountnof money in which the government are owing lecturers. Which government owes their lecturers for more than 7months? Yep you guessed right, Nigerian government. I wouldn't say it's greed, but with the way teachers in general (both for primart and secondary schools) are owed, they don't have any motivation to cime to the lecture hall and lecture.

Due to the fact that lecturers are not being payed their salary, lecturers tend to collect bribe from students in other to make them pass. Nowadays, we submit assignments with money in other to get your script marked.

From my view, the government should release the fees of the lecturers so that things will flow normal once again. Basically, the lecturers don't have financial motivation, hence, they tend to make corruption the top order of the day. If the government releases their salaries to them, i bet you, things in campus will be much better. The union on the other hand should equally play their role in disturbing the government sonthat these issues will be rectified.

Tbh my man. At this point, everyone knows it's not the lecturers faults anymore

I believe this strike would possibly last till next year. There has been no recent developments and there seems to be no interest by FG in the demands of ASUU currently.

It's difficult for anyone to work optimally when he/she is being owed for that long. No one should be placed under such circumstances.
