As a student, i am sure you're familiar with the feeling of stress right? Those times when you feel extremely tired, overworked and overwhelmed both mentally and physically that's stress right there, and this feeling can affect your performance as a student. Many people find it difficult to perform at their best when faced with extreme stress. That being said, this write-up will layout ways in which students can mitigate or manage stress.

Firstly, plan and organise your day ahead. Create a schedule for all your activities and how you'd manage them ahead of the day. This can be done through time management. Manage your time accordingly, optimize it to fit into your daily activities. This way your day becomes more focused and productive. Do not start a day blank without planning on how to run your activities, this would lead to an unorganized and chaotic day resulting in extreme levels of stress. Instead take charge and become a manager of your day by organising, planning and executing things on it's scheduled time.

Secondly, engaging in exercise is a good way of tackling stress. Exercises helps in keeping the body healthy and at an optimal performance. 30 minutes of exercise a day at least helps in reducing stress by keeping the muscles relaxed and optimal ahead of the days work and activities.

Thirdly, engaging in healthy social activities with friends and family greatly helps in reducing stress. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy they say. Make out time to have fun with friends, this brings the feeling of happiness and joy. Play, have fun , enjoy, laugh as this can overturn a stressful day.

Fourthly, do not procrastinate. This is one major problem student face. Do things when it should be done, delays and postponements will lead to accumulated workloads which is detrimental to you as a student resulting in extreme levels of stress. ,Organising and management of your time can help eradicate procrastination.

Another method to reduce stress is by taking a deep breath when faced with stress or when you feel overwhelmed. This helps your brain to trigger chemicals that calms your nerves. When you feel like you're overwhelmed with activities and you can't meet up, take a slow deep breath, meditate, be positive, keep your mind free and take things slowly and steadily. Gradually you'll see your stress levels reduced and you'll perform better.

Lastly but not the least, remember to sleep, studies have shown that a good sleeping routine greatly helps in reducing stress, sleep well at night. Create time for an afternoon nap if possible. Doing this is very important and it helps in mitigating stress. Finally as a student look for what helps reduce your stress levels better as what worked for A might not work for B. Some might be sleeping, others might be recreational activities and exercises. Some might be all the above methods. Take a deep breath, Plan, organise, have fun, be positive about things and don't forget to sleep well. Thanks for reading.
