Prologue
I woke up with feelings of sadness this wednesday morning, I can't seem to get over this feeling at all. I stared outside the window getting ready to be lost in thought then I noticed something, our new neighbors seemed to be having a party and outside, their daughter was hanging out with her friends.
We had just moved into this neighborhood three days ago, away from where I knew as home, away from those I knew as friends, a whole new way of life. It was just too much for me to handle, I had just started bonding with Ada, a girl that took it upon herself to reach out to me, brought me out of my shell and made me realize that someone actually cared, But now everything has shattered. My best friend tried to console me by letting me know that she will keep in touch but I knew things won't be the way they were before.
I was a total disaster untill 2 months ago and now it seems as though thing will go back to the way they were, loneliness total loneliness.
My parents didn't seem to understand when I explained to them how I felt, they just said that in no time I will be able to make new friends. But this is the third day now and I still feel very terrible.Am not interested in making new friends as it stands because am scared that the type of friends I might make may influence me negatively. I have studied Ada and I have concluded that she was the ideal character I want in a friend, someone that can distinguish between right and wrong and corrects me when I make mistakes, someone that consoles me when I go through hard times, someone that confides in me too.
I have always been a snail in a shell, not interested in company until two months ago, a young girl that looks older than me came knocking at our door asking about me. My mom was so surprised and at the same time happy that I had finally gotten a friend and she let her into the house.
I had mistakingly dropped my note book on my way home that afternoon. Nice Ada was kind enough to bring it to me that day, I thanked her for her good deed. Then she asked
"I noticed you are always on your own, don't you have any friends?"
I wanted to treat this conversation the way I normally do but I had to open up and let her know that I was not finding it easy to make friends.
And ever since then, things had changed for the better. I will always be grateful to that book for falling off that day.
Well things are certainly going to take a new turn.
I am Amanda Ogbalu and this is my story.
