I think that is a wonderful idea @inertia

The challenge will be when one person drifts into some undesirable form of communication. But we do have some people with outstanding conflict resolution/avoidance skills.

There is also no shortage of people who have formidable conflict escalation skills.

I think it is worth giving it a go. Maybe choose a few highly skilled moderators who have the necessary skills to lead people back too the path of civility and harmony.
