Eye Oil Painting Process - Anthony Van Dyck Master Study
Hi everyone, today I will share the learning process in oil painting using the old masters as reference to study upon. This reference comes from the artist Anthony Van Dyck - a Flemish Baroque artist.
With this particular piece I aimed to create soft edges the same way the artist does however, also made sure the highlights in the lower eyelid and corner of the eye were crisp. Additionally, I find it interesting the individual eye lashes were not needed and the individual hairs in the eye brows were not needed either. I find the eyes the most important part of a portrait painting which is why I dedicate the most time towards them.
Process...
Completed oil on paper (these are studies so I am not concerned about canvases or boards) over several hours.
Wow
I really liked the result
I admire your skill!
Thanks!
