Frankincense- The Ultimate Health Tonic

Did you know Frankincense can prevent and reverse premature balding? And eliminate tooth pain and stop wound infections?

Frankincense is derived from the sap of the Boswellia tree when the bark is cut. The resin is allowed to harden, then either dried or steamed to yield essential oils. It is edible (be sure to only ingest food-grade frankincense from a reputable source) and is often chewed like gum. When burned as incense or steamed in vaporizers, frankincense gives off a sweet, earthy, woodsy scent.

Highly revered and traded for over 5000 years, Frankincense was once worth more than its weight in gold as ancient peoples used it for a myriad of irritations, conditions, and diseases.

Today, we continue to find more and more health benefits to this simple tree sap. Read on for the many health benefits of Frankincense and why you should have a bottle in your BOB and medicine cabinet.

I did not know that! Thankfully I am not balding... yet! Haha. However, I did know what an absolutely magical sap it is. I smoke our house out with it often. It has a very powerful spiritual energy.

What got me really interested in it a few years ago was learning its role during The Plague.

I'd known that those "born sucking a silver spoon" (technically meaning the wealthy) were immune- makes sense with the healing qualities of silver we know now.

But in my Plague research for a book/game series I'm working on, I learned that Co co Channel and another perfume I can't recall atm still use frankincense due to the fact women who wore those blends never fell victim to the Plague.

Ha! I did not know that! You learn something new every day! haha!

Stopping by to visit this post @arbitrarykitten. My attention was drawn to it, knowing frankincense was one of the gifts presented by the Three Wise Men to the Christ child, in the manger.

I really enjoyed reading this ...

"Frankincense is derived from the sap of the Boswellia tree when the bark is cut. The resin is allowed to harden, then either dried or steamed to yield essential oils."

... as I did not know its source! Ever wonder about the very first people to make these discoveries? About what the plants all around them contained, in the way of beneficial properties of all types? What we all know is it not universally true that each and every plant is beneficial. Some are toxic. And some fatally toxic ...

I recall talking to my brother once about this. Long ago, during our Boy Scout days and working to earn our "edible plants" merit badge. We joked about the original people making these discoveries ... "Okay, Joe, it's your turn to go next!" "NO! I am the last surviving member of my family, it's someone else's turn!" 😉

Of course it's a very serious topic, but ... We were just silly boys ...

Thank you for writing this very informative post and adding genuine value to our Steem blockchain, as a result!

My brother and I often wonder and joke about that very same thing! #smallworld

One of my favorites is the one about coffee and cocaine. Shepherds in South America noticed the goats would bounce all over the hilltops after eating the beans. That's also how they discovered cocaine!

Seems like goats are little druggies, lol!

Thank you so much! I"m humbled and honored to know my shared knowledge brings value. It makes my heart happy 😃

And I'm looking forward to more sharing, learning and growing with you @roleerob

Great story and insight @arbitrarykitten. I suppose watching the animal kingdom and gauging your next decision on what you observe makes some sense. Given that animals were designed to handle aspects of what they eat which would still be toxic to us might still present a challenge. Perhaps someone learned that goats have a digestive system similar to our own. For one thing, I have learned that goat's milk, for whatever reason, is more tolerable for human consumption than the milk of cows.

Your thought brings back to my mind my father teaching us, as we went out into the mountains with him, to watch the birds and the berries they eat. Many berries are toxic. What he told us was that we could eat what the birds ate and be okay. We never put this to the test ... 😉

I hope you and yours enjoy a wonderful day up in the great Pacific Northwest!

My grandpa taught me the same thing about birds!

Thank you kindly dear Sir, I hope your day is absolutely exquisite :)

They say that Frankincense is the King of essential oils! Not only helps in so many ways but also intensifies the effect of other essential oils when combined!
And it has a very good and unique aroma for me!
Thank you for the great post :)

I agree, Frankincense is King :)

Smells delectable and is also wonderfully warming on cold winter days <3

I love the smell. I think you have to be careful of where you get it from as its not always sustainable..

Yes, you are absolutely correct- only purchase Frankincense and other essential oils from a reputable vendor!
