Compliments of the season and Happy New Year in advance. I am glad to participate in this week's contest titled "Prove yourself as the best artist for the week". I appreciate @dequeen for organising this contest. Today, I have painted the portrait of an African woman and shall be presenting the step-by-step process of my painting. ✅ Explain what you draw in your own words.

Today, I have painted a portrait of an African woman. I used a black acrylic colour to paint the woman. The black colour here means elegance (attractive). Similarly, I painted her wearing African attire.

Step 1
I began measuring the size of my carton. I used my ruler to measure a rectangular carton measuring 13 inches by 9 inches. After the measurement, I used my paper cutter to cut it out.

Step 2
I drew the portrait of a woman (side view). I began with her hair followed by her scarf. I then drew her forehead, nose, mouth, her jaw and neck. I also drew her eyebrows and eyelashes. I concluded this step by drawing her earrings and her shirt collar.

Step 4
Here, I coloured the hair on her head. I used black acrylic colour for that. I also used a little white acrylic colour on her hair

Step 5
I coloured the skin of the woman. I used more black colour and a little white colour. The blending of the black and white colour shows make-up on her face.

Step 6
Here, I coloured the scarf on the woman's head. I used white colour, yellow colour, red colour, and blue colour. The colour combination shows that she is putting on African attire

✅ How long did take to complete your drawing and how do you feel about it.

This painting took me three (3) hours to have it completed. I became very happy when I finished the entire work and also found out that the work was beautiful.
