Picture of the Day Week 25
Hello friends welcome to my blog
2 years ago, I enrolled on a fashion class; when I started, I was so happy that I would be learning a new skill, which I have always wanted, but my busy schedule and procrastination have held me back all this while. On my first day in class, I met other students, each person to her sewing machine, so I looked around and positioned myself to a free sewing machine. The whole of my first day, I played around with the sewing machine and was taught each part of the sewing machine and how to operate it. I practised some basic operating of the sewing machine.
On arriving on the second week I was told I would be sewing with a hand needle and it seemed weird to me how that would be achievable, I have known hand needles to be used just for little stitches and not to sew a complete cloth from beginning to end but other student concorded that they all passed through that stage.
So, I began the task of sewing my first dress with a hand needle. It was not an easy one for me when I started; I made mistakes, asked questions, and made corrections until the task became easier for me. It took me a week and some days to complete the dress because I was asked to lose and redo anything I did not do well. Lots of patience was put into the work because that's the only way you can learn.
However, after the first task, I was given two more difficult tasks, but the knowledge gained from the first task made it easier for me to achieve the other tasks; all this was done with a hand needle. At every task, I learned something new. This stage took me one month to accomplish before I was allowed to proceed to use the sewing machine.
It was a wonderful experience that requires patience and determination to achieve your aim, bearing in mind that each stage of learning in the sewing process is essential to the next; not perfecting each stage makes the next stage difficult.
The above picture is the first dress I made with a hand needle, it gives me a memory of how I began my sewing skill and am glad I put in hard work and determination to gain that knowledge because I could remember a lady who enrolled for the fashion class few months after me she could not cope so she stopped.
Thank you@fombae for the support
