Contest: My Career Choice in Life

In your words, what do you understand by the term CAREER?

To my understanding, I will define the term CAREER as an action or a calling in one’s life or a person’s profession or occupation in life.

Looking back, what career choice did you dream of having and why?

Life is dynamic, most times we don’t become or do what we initially planned, to some people, they have what they always wish for.

Growing up as a child, I always admired medical personnel, I grew up with my aunt, who is a nurse, and being around her exposed me to the medical profession and I picked up an interest to study and be a medical practitioner in the future.

Am also a religious person and I also have the passion and desire to serve God as a missionary.

So, after graduating from high school in 2017, I wanted to join missionary work but my parents advised me to further my studies so I could join missions work with more experience.

In 2018, I applied for admission to study medical laboratory science but I did not meet up the admission demands, I didn’t give up, I still reapplied not just for medical laboratory science I also applied for nursing sciences for good three years but still I didn’t get admitted, so while seeking admission into the medical profession.

I enrolled to study theology in children evangelism and I successfully finished the course to meet up my ambition of being a medical practitioner and a missionary too.

I chose to go for children evangelist because I love being around them, I understand children very well, and spending time with them gives me joy.

I also choose the medical profession as a career not because I grew up as a nurse but because of the passion I developed for the profession.

The two careers I choose(the missionary and medical profession are both humanitarian services ) are all about rendering care, attention, and help to others, that’s why I chose them.

Did you achieve your desired career or you are still working towards it?

I appreciate God because I have achieved one already, am working as a children’s missionary and I didn’t regret it at all, I can say is one of the best decisions I made so far.

Last year, in 2022 August. I got admitted to study nursing science at the College of Nursing and Midwifery Lafia,nasarawa State. By the grace of God, am now a student nurse and potential nurse as well.

So am still working very hard to see that I finish my nursing program successfully and be licensed to practice as a professional nurse shortly.
