Steemit Learning Challenge-S22W3; Trigger Finger"
Greetings teachers and students!
Here is my week3 assignment post please read through.
What's trigger finger? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post.
Trigger finger also known as tenosynovitis is the condition of which pain occur in the fingers making it swell this is because the tendons and surrounding sheaths in the fingers are affected leading to stiffness, pain in the finger.
Cause of Trigger Finger
• age related
People who are advanced in age have a tendency of suffering from trigger finger because with time the tendon wear off and tear inflammation occurs resulting to trigger finger.
• Repetitive stress
The tendon sheat becomes irritated due to overworked, this is common with people that do repetitive move and heavy lifting example cybercaffe.
• medical ailments
Illness such as carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis increases
the risk of trigger finger occuring this is because they target the muscle and tendon affecting the surrounding sheat which results to trigger finger.
Symptoms of Trigger Finger
• pain and tenderness
Pain occur when the finger becomes irritated and swollen making it difficult to easily slide through their sheats
• stiffness
Difficulty in easily sliding through the sheat results to stiffness of the affected area.
• Swelling
The affected areas is inflamed causing it to swell.
Stages of Trigger Finger
• Pre- triggering stage
There s no clicking sensation at this stage although the tendon is already inflamed presenting symptoms like pains and stiffness.
• Triggering stage
It's get severe as the patient experience clicking and snapping sensation when the finger is in motion.
• Locking stage
This stage is considered to be critical as the finger is stuck and bent although it can be strengthen positively will returned to the bent position.
Treatment
• Medication
Steroid and Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug can be administered to reduce inflammation.
• physical exercise
Exercising the affected area to strengthen the shortened muscles.
• Therapy
Massaging the affected area.
• surgery
How would you diagnose a trigger finger? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests?
Trigger finger can be diagnosed in many ways but firstly i will ask some questions about the occupation of the patient, family history about trigger finger past medical results this information will help me diagnose the cause of the illness.
Other diagnosis are;
• physical examination
• x-ray
• ultrasound and MRI to assess if the is any arthritis and tendon rapture.
• NCS
Special Test For Diagnosis Confirmation
• Trigger test
• Flick test
• Notta's test
• Tinels test
• phalen's test
Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practicing preferably gifs or videos
Massage of Finger Joints
This exercise helps massage where the inflammation begins this will help the triggered tendon find space to move back to it's normal position
Trigger Finger Stretch
This exercise helps improve shortened muscles It also improves finger mobility and gripping ability.
Tendon Glide
This exercise is performed to improve mobility and flexibility.
Share your review after performing these exercises either on yourself, healthy individual or patient.
This three exercise is a good step to healing for someone suffering from trigger finger after i performed this exercise i felt relieved as my fingers muscles were stretched relieving it from any stiffness that was present.
I will love to invite @blessedbee @beevicsam @dequeen to participate in this contest.

You are welcome dear.
Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (3/3)
You have shared a great knowledge about trigger finger, its symptoms, causes and it's stages. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.4/3)
In the second question, you tell us about how you have to assess a patient by doing physical examination, history taking, special tests and investigations. It would be better to add explanation of special tests and investigations too. Good.
Task 3 (4/4)
You try the trigger finger stretch, finger joint massage, tendon glides. You did the finger joint massage stretches, tendon glides and trigger finger stretch correctly. Always remember to apply heat pack in chronic condition and ice pack in acute condition before performing exercises to relax the muscles and reduce stiffness. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a great attempt to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from trigger finger or any type of finger issue. Thank you.
Thank you for the review maam @ashkhan corrections noted.
