A Drive in the WoodssteemCreated with Sketch.

Hello all! We escaped isolation for a day and went for a drive in the woods. We had been walking in the woods near our house but decided we needed a change. It was slated to be one of the last nice days for a while so we hopped in the Jeep and took off on some back roads near our house.

Fourmile Butte

Our first stop was a little cinder cone up the road from us called Fourmile Butte. It's about 6 miles from the town we live in so not sure where the name came from. :)

Looking south this is a shot of Broken Top on the left and The Three Sisters. In this shot you can only see The South & North Sister, The Middle one is hidden behind The North.

A panorama of the same view. The mountain to the right center of the picture is called Black Crater. There is a lake near the top that I hope to hike into later this year when the snow clears.

Looking north across the red rock of the butte is Black Butte with a dusting of snow on top. This is also a hiking target later this year.

As we leave Fourmile Butte we stopped for a couple of shots of Mt Jefferson in the distance.

The Aspen Grove

On our way to our next stop we ran across this fence and sign. Apparently this is man's attempt to help nature along due to our need to promote fire suppression. Ponderosa Pines were removed to give the Aspen the sunlight they need and the whole area was surrounded with special fencing to keep deer and elk out so the new trees could survive.

Looking forward to returning here in fall to see the leaves as they change color. :)

A Walk to Indian Ford Creek

Our last stop was a short walk through the pines to the creek.

A very tranquil ending to our little trip.

Photos taken by me, @oldmans, with a Nikon D3300 and some Lightroom post processing.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your day!

Nature is so beautiful and healing!
Such blue sky!

That’s a nice jeep!

It certainly is. Nothing better to heal the mind and soul then being out in nature!

Bought the Jeep new in 2005, will probably drive it until I die. :)

Thanks for stopping by! 👍

Your jeep is your best companion on the road!

Very good choice for a long lasting and dependable traveling companion.

Cheers.
