Rule Update
I have received a comment asking the following:
What if someone identifies a connection that differs from what you initially found - would you consider it, or is it fixed based on what you came up with and what suited you?
When designing this round, I'd decided that "it's fixed"... but... if somebody goes to great lengths to find an obscure link in a book I'd never heard of, it would be harsh of me to simply say "that's not what I'm looking for".
As a result, I will now include a "hint" to help give an indication of what I'm specifrically looking for.
If the answer is close... on the right track... but not specific enough, I will award a 50% upvote and allow another reply to see if you can find the specifity I'm looking for.
So as not to penalise users who have already guessed (before 8am UK time), I will mute those comments and everybody can have one attempt from now.
I hope this helps and improves this round.
Rule Update 2
To keep the open questions fluid and so as not to deter people from trying to answer (and also to keep you addicted), an incorrect answer will not eliminate you from the question entirely, but you must wait a minimum of 6 hours before trying again.
Round 2 - Question 8
What's the link / connection between the following places?
Hint: An In Demand question that I Can't Resist.
They are all (bigger) cities in Texas (as well as these smaller places).
โ
Have you joined a team or playing solo?
Flying solo...
๐
Round 2 - Question 2
What's the link / connection between the following places?
Hint: Your granny might have come close to visiting these places.
Are you allowed to ask for clues in your puzzle? You have to circle it somehow. But if (according to Google, ChatGPT or other AIs I don't know) only two to four players are still guessing, it's going to be tight.
I'm not going to list all the pretty singers that my grandmother would have liked at some point, because I still have one try (which is a luxury). But music was a clue?
I know the bands Boston and Chicago (I danced to their music, I'm sure many other puzzlers didn't because they were too young...(crap, am I the granny?)). If you look deep into the Wiki, there are also bands called Kansas and Phoenix. But that doesn't fit! It doesn't suit you, I'm sorry.
Is Music the clue?
๐ Music is a crucial part of the link.
Boston, Chicago, Kansas and Phoenix are all bands.
Based on the hint, what's the additional detail that I'm interested in?
You can always ask ๐
Sidenote: Alexa's playlists for all of these keywords are very enjoyable
Boston, Chicago, Kansas all performed in their namesake cities in the mid to late 70s. But Phoenix did not.
Boston, Chicago, Kansas named their debut album or at least one song on it after the city names. But not Phoenix.
I'm struggling with Phoenix...
Am I on the right track?
I am an Apple user... ๐คทโโ๏ธ
โ I'd love to award you the prize, but sadly, this isn't the final connection. You get my nomination for effort though!
Irrelevant to the question - Phoenix were more 90's pop - A French group. Fairly upbeat ๐
Ouch, this red cross hurts a lot. It feels like you've done something very forbidden. Haha, I once had this complaint when playing Scrabble (and now I can relate to it very well ๐). We've been using this symbol ever since:
โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
Okay, next try in 6 hours. Gosh... ๐คช
Somehow this question tickles me. Unfortunately, it also means that I no longer care about the others.
Maybe you've simply taken on too many questions that are stretched out over too long a period of time. People lose motivation (many of the first โhere screamersโ don't even turn up). A few difficult questions, for which you give a little hint after every wrong answer, might be โeasierโ. Above all, it would be clearer (also for you).
๐
Round 1 was too easy so people didnโt arrive in time.
Round 2 is probably about right but too hard so people give up.
I wonder what Round 3 has to offer.
How many questions are unanswered? 5? Thatโs probably ok in my opinion. I have dropped the odd hint in my comments. Especially on this question and my most recent comment (not this one). Iโll think of a way to structure the hints so itโs fair on everybody.
LOL... Zwei Doofe ein Gedanke (zur fast gleichen Zeit!):
https://steemit.com/@the-gorilla/spsabq
Elvis Presley gave concerts in each of this cities in the year 1956โฆ ๐
That's an impressive link and whilst not correct, it's the closest answer so far (not 50% close though).
๐ I'm not feelin' satisfied yet, but you've done enough to earn yourself another try.
No No strategy: Waiting for some other guessers and then I strike from the background with a sex bomb for grannies!
Tom Jones did ok with the nearly Grannys!
I also found Tom Jones very original. He's British and in the best age for โgranniesโ. Unfortunately, he didn't perform in all four locations. For all readers: neither did the Fab Four...
Oh that sounds great๐คฃ
The British band, Fleetwood Mac, did a tour in 1975 that included these cities.
I don't know if my grandmother wanted to go๐ค
โ That's not the link that I was looking for
You're a similar closeness as chriddi was.
Maybe somebody close to your granny wanted to go? ๐ค
In 1975 my granny had been retired already... ๐
Maybe she would have liked to do some world tours anyway๐ค๐คฃ
Certainly!
From Elvis Presley (at least Granny knew him) to Fleedwood Mac... well...
Neither Tom Jones nor The Beatles...
Do you think I should become more modern? At least I won a second attempt and it's not used up yet... ๐
Justin Biber?
Oh, I don't know... It seems that it is more enigmatic for me to guess what they mean by granny, in my country there are 30-year-old granny... a few days ago I saw one who was 38 years old...๐ฌ
In each of these cities, an artist was "born" who received a Grammy for rock or pop music. Really! If I'm on the right track this time, I'll name them... ๐
Be curious - Aerosmith is one of them!
Good night!
At this point, I really hope you get the answer and win the full point
Iโll already award her the pointโฆ she needs to say it though ๐
You see the hintโฆ granny, close, award, nominationโฆ youโre inches away.
No, millimeters. Granny -> Grammyโฆ whatโs the final step? Whatโs the relationship between those 4 bands and the Grammyโs?
F*** I am sooooo blind!
Poor Boston got no Grammy but they were nominated once!
๐Each band was nominated for the Grammy Award!๐
โ
I was so tempted to put โ but that would have been mean ๐

Round 2 - Question 2 - Hint
Should the Steemit Awards be renamed "The Steemies"?
Note: All guess timings are reset when a clue is shared (i.e. you do not have to wait 6 hours)
These cities all have museums that have stood the test of time, some being around for decades and others for more than a century.
โ That's not the answer I'm looking for
They are Jazz-loving cities. In them you can enjoy walks (Jazz Walk of Fame - Kansas), clubs (Wally's Cafรฉ Jazz Club - Boston) and museums (National Jazz Museum - Chicago)
โ Jazz is not the link that I'm looking for
An act of desperation before my six hours are up (Sh..., this puzzle in my head is ruining all my day's activities, but I WANT to solve it, I WANT full marks.... ๐ซ):
In the song โRoute 66โ (written by Bobby Troup, covered by Chuck Berry, Nat King Cole and The Rolling Stones), all four cities are mentioned in different verses. Boston is not mentioned directly, but the area around the city is described.
๐ I'm so desperate for you to be correct, but you're not getting any closer. It's a shame that there wasn't a "Best effort" Nomination for the Steemit Awards.
Desperation is no solutionโฆ ๐ข
Boston, MA
Chicago, IL
Kansas, KS
Phoenix, AZ
Are among the largest metropolitan areas in the US.
Each city has legendary music venues:
Boston: The Paradise Rock Club and Symphony Hall.
Chicago: The Aragon Ballroom and House of Blues.
Kansas City: The Blue Room and Uptown Theater.
Phoenix: The Van Buren and Crescent Ballroom.
I dunno if some granny visited those venues, though
๐ That's not what the link that I'm looking for. chriddi has solved the music link... so there's only the 50% award for the remaining detail.
oops...
Round 2 - Questions 1 & 2 - Update
I have received a comment asking the following:
When designing this round, I'd decided that "it's fixed"... but... if somebody goes to great lengths to find an obscure link in a book I'd never heard of, it would be harsh of me to simply say "that's not what I'm looking for".

I hope this helps and improves this round.
Round 2 - Question 1
What links / connects the following places:
Hint: Stick to the thoughts of one of the last (muted) answers.
They are united by the NHL! New York Rangers, New York Islanders. Chicago Blackhawks. San Jose Sharks. Buffalo Sabres.
๐ You're correct that there's an NHL link, but you now need to connect the 4 that I've mentioned. You can have one last attempt...
Did all these teams win the Stanley Cup?
Hmm as far as I searched not all of them won, they've participated in at least one, but San Jose Sharks and Buffalo Sabres never won.
Maybe they all made it to the final.
Also not the final link.
โ That's not the link I'm looking for
NHL's outdoor games, participated in or hosted significant outdoor events
Buffalo, NY - 2008 Winter Classic
New York, NY - 2014 Stadium Series
Chicago, IL - 2009 Winter Classic and 2014 Stadium Series
San Jose, CA - 2015 Stadium Series
๐ Like alexanderkass, you have the correct sport. You can have one last attempt...
No future answers will get another try for linking the NHL. Only the specific link will be correct.
The link is in the matchups with the Anaheim Ducks, a pro NHL team?
๐ That's not the answer I'm afraid
Round 2 - Question 1 - Hint
Ducks are stronger than Sharks
Round 2 - Question 1 - Last Hint
I guess, based on their logos, these teams are named after animals?
โ That's not the answer I'm looking for
The Anaheim Ducks won against all four of the aforementioned NHL-teams - Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks - in the 2014-2015 season. Remarkable!
๐ That really is remarkable! Such a tenuous link - I hope that you didn't go through each team's results for the last decade! This season would have been enough!
Ouch, all teams are in last place in their division this NHL season... ๐คทโโ๏ธ
โ
That's the connection I was looking for.
A look at the table for the current season (thanks for the tip when I was goofing off) immediately showed the obvious...
In the end, it was the same with the Grammys. I looked at the official homepage, which even has its own search function, and thought, "Too bad Boston didn't get one, otherwise winning a Grammy would be the connection."
I misinterpreted your references to the "effort-nomination" - I thought you really liked me... ๐ณ
Well, I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true... I just had to think of a cunning way of intertwining my compliment with the question ๐
Though I told you I am out with sports, Iโฆ
Gosh, gonna have a look at this season tomorrowโฆ ๐
In each of these cities there is a more or less well-known building that represents the style of the architect Frank L. Wright. The most famous of these is the Guggenheim Museum in New York. In Buffalo it is the Larkin Administration Building, in Chicago the Robie House and in San Josรฉ the Hanna-Honeycomb House.
โ That's not the answer I was looking for.
Again... fascinating ๐
โ Not the answer that I'm looking for
There'll be 1 thing that I'm looking for that connects / links them.
Using (1) from your answer as the example, the answer could be:
"They are all the 2nd largst city in the state."
Using (3), the answer could be:
"They all have nicknames related to weather."
Ok, ya entendรญ.
Debe ser algo que las relaciona entre sรญ, que tienen en comรบn.

Round 2 - Question 7
Please note the recent rule update
What links / connects the following places:
Hint: He was 1 year older than me.
Connection: US Presidents
A president was killed in each of these cities. Okay, one was born in Butler...
Washington DC: Murder of Abraham Lincoln
Buffalo: Killing of William McKinley
Dallas: Killing of John F. Kennedy
Milwaukee: Assassination attempt on Theodore Roosevelt, which he survives
Butler: Birthplace of James Buchanan
Washington DC was also the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan.
My problem : I did not search for โassassination attemptโ but remembered Kennedy/Dallas and looked for more presidents that died through violence. I was not aware of the vocabulary and searched on German pages.
I simply used Wikipdeia ๐
I was 5 and he was 6... ...BANG BANG!
๐ Butler was the most recent one.
Assassination attempt on Trump!
Assassinations of US presidents in all five cities!
โ I'll let you have it...
Great...
I would still like to know who was six years old, when you were 5?
Lyrics to a song.. which was intended to get you to guns and assassination attempts.
[Verse 1]
I was five, and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight
[Chorus]
Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down
Yes, I understood it when you said that Ronald Reagan was one of the lucky ones... But I was too late to tell what I found...
But it's great, I didn't know that song๐
It was in one of the Bond filmsโฆ You only live twice - a classic James Bond movie soundtrack.
It's beautiful
I heard this song in Kill Bill
Yes! That's the one.
You'll find great playlists in Quentin Tarantino films๐
Dirk Nowitzki?? ๐ค
๐ That's not the connection I was looking for. I was 5.
Where's that big red X? I was prepared for that. ๐ฅฒ
I know it's not Dirk, but nobody wants to guess...I still don't know what you mean by 5?
@chriddi said she doesn't like it ๐
I'm 5. From the previous hint - He's 1 year older than me.
What I'll start doing is... if nobody's replied to an unsolved question in about 24 hours - or if I feel like it's been too long and nobody's getting close... I'll add a hint. I'll make sure I only do it when nobody's in their "6 hour waiting period" ๐
Sweet! I guess, the gorilla has a heart too...๐ฅน
Caron Butler?
๐ That's not the answer I was looking for
Round 2 - Question 7 - Hint
I was 5.
Better, give me a hint about your age, I've already studied your entire biography but haven't found any exact details yet ๐ฌ
I was 5 and he was 1 year older than me.
Now everything is clear๐
It makes a lot of sense ๐
๐
Michael Jackson?
๐ That's not it. I'll share a hint shortly.
Round 2 - Question 7 - Hint
Generated with gening.ai
The Green Bay Packers?
๐ That's not the link I'm looking for
Presidente James A. Garfield
This oneโs been solved now by chriddi. There are 5 music questions in Round 3 that remain unsolved.
Garfield Cat?
๐ Not the cat, no ๐ค
You mean the president?
Uh hu
huh?
It's not James Garfield, is it?
One of them is...
I don't know where this is going...๐ฎโ๐จ
Yes, I know... one of them was an actor. I'm looking for it... is the movie Back to the future? It premiered in 1985
๐คญ
I think this cities are connected in terms of sport, they are all associated with franchises from (NFL) yes all of them have (had) or have NFL teams or the teams located near them.

Rule Update

However, you must wait a minimum of 6 hours before trying again.
Very intelligent mind behind that rules making
Round 2 - Question 3
What links / connects the following places:
These cities are named after famous cities in UK
โ
The eight cities are located in the USA. They bear the names of places in Great Britain because they were founded, and in some cases renamed, by British emigrants.
Edit:
Hello, my answer is much more specificโฆ ;-)
I thought this was my chance since I am still very disappointed for looking at thousands of photos wich could show the rainbow smiley at a famous love parade. Probably a womenโs problemโฆ ;-D
I would have accepted your answer... but sadly, mojociocio gave me sufficient detail to be correct. He even avoided the mistakes of "not calling them cities" and "saying they're in England" - both mistakes the-mrs-gorilla made!
This is your chance. You've got this.
I'm not sure if any of this is true?
โ It's probably true for each individual location, although there's no connection between them all.
These US cities are not directly related to major European cities other than in name, but they were named by early European settlers, often in memory of their place of origin or as a tribute to European history.
โ mojociocio got the correct answer - They all share a name with a City in Great Britain.
This is Round 2, question 3 right?
Ah yes. Corrected ๐
Round 2 - Question 4
What's the link / connection between the following places?
Hint: I've been as specific with the question as you should be with your answer.
They are all on Interstate 5 (I-5).
โ
They are all major cities in the largest wine producer states of the United States.
โ That's not the answer I was looking for
These are all cities with professional sports teams, specifically in the Major League Soccer (MLS).
Sacramento, CA โ Sacramento Republic FC
San Diego, CA โ San Diego Loyal SC (soon to join MLS)
Seattle, WA โ Seattle Sounders FC
Los Angeles, CA โ LA Galaxy and LAFC
Portland, OR โ Portland Timbers
โ That's not the link that I'm looking for
In a not mean way, I'm pleased that you're finding this more difficult ๐
Not even 5%...ouch ๐ฅฒ
Not even 1% ๐ซจ
That sounded even worse! Thank you๐
I am pretty sure you'll kick yourself when you see the answer ๐
Don't tell me. ๐
On the bright side, your cleverness paid offโfor real this time. ๐
They may be the main coastal cities of the West Coast of the United States.
โ That's not the answer I'm looking for
All of these cities are located on the West Coast of the United States, along the Pacific Ocean.
๐ that is true, but itโs not the connection Iโm looking for.
All 5 places have an โInternational Airportโ.
๐ That's not the answer - pennsif has now solved this question ๐
That was that easy (compared to MY riddle) that it could not be trueโฆ ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Well, Grats to @pennsifโฆ ๐
Round 2 - Question 5
What's the link / connection between the following places?
Hint: This May be the current list of places.
The cities Tampa, FL; Nashville, TN; Chicago, IL; and Cleveland, OH are all scheduled stops on AC/DC's 2025 "Power Up" North American tour. This tour marks the band's return to North America after nine years, with performances planned in various cities across the continent.
โ 90% close enough so I'll accept it.
With the information you have, what's significant about the dates / locations that I chose - in relation to the hint that I shared?
All are scheduled to take place in May :)
๐ and...
It's their last 4 dates.
Round 2 - Question 10
What's the link / connection between the following places?
Hint: 1st the worst
The cities San Francisco, CA; Philadelphia, PA; Cincinnati, OH; Kansas City, KS; and Los Angeles, CA are linked by their NFL teams, each of which lost in their debut Super Bowl appearance.
๐ I'll give you half for getting the NFL link and for the "loser" link. I would've accepted it but San Francisco won their 1st Superbowl (XVI). Have another try, you're soooooo close.
๐ฑ๐คฏ
These teams lost their first Super Bowl by double digits? ๐คจ Worst defeats...
๐ That's not it. Think more Jet LI than Malcolm X.
I would have accepted it if I were wrong, because then my mind would be at ease ๐
You are so close. If San Francisco had lost their first final, I'd have let you have it (even though it's a different answer).
My Jet LI / Malcolm X clue is great by the way. Sometimes, I feel like my clues are under appreciated ๐
Could it be, like Jet Li, these teams start as underdogs?
They are the last losers of the Super Bowl (held between 2019-2024)
1.San Francisco -2024
2.Philadephia-2023
3.Cincinnati-2022
4.Kansas City-2021
5.San Francisco-2020
6.Los Angeles-2019
Ohhh, I meant Question 7 was the one I thought you'd get ๐ But well done with this one!
Yes, I think 7 is easier, I'm thinking... thinking๐ค๐ค๐คฃ
โ
Son ciudades con mayor riesgo de atravesar por fenรณmenos naturales, entre ellos Riesgo sรญsmico (siendo San Francisco una de las ciudades con mayor riesgos en los EEUU)
๐ That's not the answer I was looking for... henryclive has nearly got the answer.
The connection between this cities is that they've hosted teams in the XFL A professional American football league. The hint 1st worst suggests the initial season in 2001 which was a failure.
And when you told @henryclive to think more Jet Li than Malcolm X I know it's about sports rather than social or politics.
henryclive has obtained the link with the NFL. It's that final relationship that needs connecting. More Jet LI than Malcolm X and the losers, rather than winners.
