Good evening steemians, how ye all doing good, welcome to my another blog. Today I want to talk about the health benefits of a popular leave call "Scent Leaf".

Scent leaf, botanical known as Ocimum gratissimum, a fragrant plant widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Scent leaf is native to Nigeria, Ghana and other parts of Africa and Asia. This is a home plant, often found on farms, gardens and is often used as a spice to cook delicacies because of its delicious aroma. It is a vegetable spice that gives all foods that have a delicious, unique taste and aroma. Any food with a scent leaf will make your mouth watery, but there is a lot of its aroma. The scent leaf has unparalleled benefits, rich in calcium, iron, potassium, carbon and vitamin "A" essential for human health. Oils from the fragrance leave scientifically proven to have antibacterial, antibacterial and anti-fungal activities.

Scent leaf is a vegetable spice that gives all foods that have a pleasant, unique taste and aroma. The Plants boast a wide range of antibacterial, antifungal, larvicidal properties. The scent leaf plays an important role in the treatment and prevention of infections and disease. It also contains essential nutrients, such as iron, phosphorus, calcium, and vitamin A, which are essential for human health.

In Nigeria, scent leaf is common among various ethnic groups in the country. It is known as 'Efirin' in Yoruba, 'Ahuju' or 'Nchanwu' in Igbo, 'Ganyen Kamsh' or 'Doddo Ya' in Hausa, 'Aramogbo' by Edo, Ibibios 'Ntonng' and other parts. Ijaw call it “Ekeni.”

It is widely used as a local ingredient in cooking ‘Ofe Akwu’, pepper soups, porridge jams, jollof beans, jollof rice, ‘Ukwa’, and many more. In addition, the people of Benin use it to cook soups like 'Ogbono', Egusi. It is best known for cooking a variety of delicacies.

The scent leaf is also known for its health benefits. It's very high in calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium and vitamin A. The oil from the scent leaf is known to have some antifungal and antibacterial properties which is why it is called the 'cold leaf'.

Wondering why people take pepper and scent leaf when they catch a cold? It is because it fights colds and catarrh. It can also be used to treat stomach ailments such as cholera, and diarrhea. When processed into a dough, it is good for skin care and fights skin-like conditions. If you have menstrual cramps, make tea and it will help with the pain.

Studies show that many benefits can come from eating scent leaves. The scent leaf is a nutritious and well-known fertility stimulant. It is rich in vitamin A, which helps in clear vision. When a sufficient amount of scent leaf is eaten, it helps to prevent xerophthalmia. Calcium and magnesium found in it lower bad cholesterol and increase blood circulation thus helping to improve heart function.

The scent leaf helps speed up digestion, has a calming effect on the stomach and helps with digestion. It can lower blood sugar and protect the pancreatic islands, which produce insulin from damage.

Its leaves can be plucked or cut and placed in living areas to act as a resistant to flies, mosquitoes, other insects, thus reducing the number of mosquitoes and flies in the living area. As a result, the malaria parasites caused by these mosquitoes and flies are greatly reduced. If it is crushed and rubbed on the skin infection, it helps in its treatment. Its ability to increase the penetration of blood vessels makes it widely used to treat and bind wounds, abscesses, and acne. It contains compounds such as epigenin fenkhona and eugenol which maintains high penile health and sperm vitality thus making it easier for men to ejaculate.

Aside from its health benefits, its versatility is also amazing. The scent leaf can be added to beans, jollof rice, pepper soup, local rice, stew, chicken peppers, beef, oats, yam porridge, plantain porridge. That is why many homeowners who know their prices may want to have them in their home. Some boil, squeeze, rub, drink, and it has been proven that people who do this regularly are not sick at all. It is therefore advisable that people ignore this drug.

Before eating, however, we should take into account the fact that herbal remedies can be as effective as herbal remedies. In some cases, it may interact with other medications.
