Heart attack is a common disease that has been associated with old men. We should be informed that heart attack doesn't only affect men but it can also affect women. The only difference is that it affects men more than it affects women or most of the cases we here are of men.
A heart attack can be described as a medical condition where normal blood flow is disrupted. Blood is supplied to every part of the system where nutrients are carried around to the various parts. There might be sometimes when the blood fails to reach the heart due to certain instances. This instance might be the passageway of the blood through to the heart being blocked by the formation of a clot.
When there is a sudden failure in the supply of blood to the heart, it stops functioning and this might affect all other systems of the body. This is when we say an individual is under attack. When the heart stops functioning human life is threatened, the human under attack is not able to breathe and if not attended to fast enough he might die or the situation might become worse. This is why we sometimes people regarding a heart attack as a serious medical condition.

We have spoken about how a heart attack occurs in the body, but let us now talk about what leads to it.
Before an individual is attacked, there is something we call CHD which is referred to as Coronary Heart disease. The CHD is a situation where the blood vessels which supply blood to the heart is blocked. The blocking of the heart is done by cholesterol in the system.
The cholesterol is in the blood vessels without harming the individual, but the moment that cholesterol bursts open it blocks the passageway disrupting the supply of blood causing a heart attack.

There are several causes of a heart attack some of which will be stated below.
- A common one is feeling pains around the chest.
This is a condition most people will feel when there are signs of a future attack. The individual might feel a sharp pain in his chest, he might also feel like his chest is heavy or being overburdened by something.
- Not breathing normally.
Sometimes the signs are you might not be able to breathe like how you used to. And occasionally you might have to adjust the way you are lying down before you can breathe better. You might even have to lie down if you are sitting down.
- Sweating frequently.
All of us sweat but for some people, it might be abnormal to sweat at odd times. When a person is gonna be attacked you will see that even in cold weather that person might even sweat which means that the system is not functioning correctly.
- Feeling dizzy frequently.
You might be feeling dizzy and sometimes this might even lead an individual to faint. You will realize that from time to time you feel dizzy and this should be looked at.

Prevention as they say is better than cure and then the best person to tell you this is someone who has been sick before. He will tell you that good health should not be taken for granted.
The following are some ways we can prevent ourselves or reduce the risk of being affected by a heart attack.
- An individual should not smoke.
For some reason, the cigarette boxes have the hazards that smoking can cause to an individual but people do not pay attention to it. One of the easiest ways you can be attacked by a heart attack is through smoking.
Alcohol consumption should either be stopped or minimized.
An obese individual should try losing a bit of weight.
Our diet should be considered.
We should consider taking foods that contain low fat. We should take fruits that contain fibre

As much as we will try to prevent heart attacks it is inevitable that some people might be affected by the disease.
When someone is under attack, the first thing we should consider is calling an ambulance because moving him or her around might disturb him or her.
When the individual is attacked and taken to the hospital, the individual might be given medications to help him in blood flow to the heart.
For serious cases of heart attacks, the individual will have to undergo surgery.
