The Science of Space

Thank you for this learning opportunity put together by @chasad75, this community is more like a class room. In today's contest, we are all going "Astro"
1: What is the name of the closest galaxy to our Milky Way?
Why I believe this contest is an astro school is because I grow up knowing that Andromeda was the Galaxy closest to the milky way.
Researching this contest created a change, the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy is the closest to our milky way Galaxy. You will have to travel 25,000 light years to get there
2: What is black hole and how does it form?
Image from Pixabay A black holes
Any portion in space that have an extraordinary strong gravitational force, so strong that it can suck in light and every form of matter around it, such a place in space is called a black hole. Theoretically, if a black hole was to be connected to a wormhole the other side where sucked in matter is expelled will be a white hole.
When our sun gets to the end of its life span, and implode into itself, due to its own gravitational force. It's core becomes a singularity as the outer part of the stay gets blown away in a supernova explosion. Whatever is remaining of it becomes a black hole.
3: How long does it takes for light to travel from Sun to Earth and from Moon to Earth?
Because the Earth's orbit around the sun is an elliptical shape, some time it is closer than other times, the average distance is about 93 million miles and that will be 150 million kilometers.
To cover this distance, the light from the sun will take about 8.3 minutes to get to the earth.

At some points in time, like the sun, the moon comes closer to the earth than other times. But at its average distance it will take light 1 second to travel from the moon to the earth.moon Facts from NASA
4: What is the name of largest planet in our solar system and what is it's most distinctive feature?
With a diameter of about 139,811 kilometers, that makes Jupiter the current undisputed record holder as largest planet in our solar system.
The first thing that catch my attention about Jupiter is It's description as a glass giant, it's size, it's ring, it's magnetic auroras and massive storm that has been raging for centuries.
Finally, Jupiter has not one, two or three moon. It has up to 67 moons Jupiter Facts from NASA
I am inviting @mahadisalim, @shahariar1, @mhizta, @josepha and @leafoflife to participate in this exercise.
I am also calling on @adachukwu, @leafoflife and @josepha to explore this community and participate in the science contest
Please use #club100 tag in your first four tags.
Thanks for the correction.
@seancyril It seems like you haven't read the rules; I've mentioned the first four tags in them.
Your most welcome .
#science-c1 is the main tag
Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.
