Three basics for Newcomers | Try to focus on them!!

in Steem Sri Lanka3 years ago

When going through the recent activities of Newcomers, I feel that most of them do not have a good idea of the rhythm of steemit. If someone think that, just after sharing some posts, there are people waiting to reward you, please come back to the reality. That ain't gonna happen.

There are no ways to be success in one day. Build your reputation step by step. Show your worth to the ecosystem. Put some effort at the start. When you come to the track, you will start to love this.

So, I'll share some points that I follow throughout my journey. Actually credit must go to @randulakoralage for being a great mentor for me. That's what we always say, Dear Recruiters, You have the First Responsibility of Creating a Great Member!.

  • Post Quality
  • Engagement
  • Steem power

1. Post Quality

If you don't have much idea on where to start/ what to do at first, please go through this tutorial by @steem-sri.lanka, Where to Start Guide. You will get an idea Support Program for Newcomers.

Your profile is just like your uniform. That's where you give the impression to others. So, always try to continue the standard of your posts.

  • Try to share meaningful/ value-added content. - It may be a diary, but you can give knowledge from your experiences to make an interest in readers. So, try to be unique!!

  • Try to add at least 150+ words. - Even if it's a capture, just share some thoughts about it.

  • Avoid Plagiarism - Stealing other's content is always a black mark for you. You might be tricky 10 times not to get caught. But, it's not permanent.

  • Be active and consistent. - At least, try to share one post per day. (If it's not possible you can at least comment and vote on other's post)

  • Use proper markdown.

  • Use images properly.

  • Explore different communities - You will find where your best interests are. But, follow their rules.

  • Don't pledge for votes or mention curators in your posts.

  • Try to use simple and good English. It's not essential but will add some value to your content. Here's a Simple guide to be an English expert!

one high-quality meaningful post per day is better than 5 low-quality posts.

2) Engagement

As I said above, sharing content itself is not enough. You need to build relationships with others. You have to show your existence on the platform.

  • Comment on other's post - Always try to leave a comment which makes an interest on you. Commenting is an Art: Tips to be a Good Commenter.

  • Follow other people.

  • Hit the like button - It will give you curation rewards as well.

  • Join different telegram/ Discord groups. Be active in those.

  • You can join different contests, join other country communities as well. Always try to make friends.

3) Build your steem power

Most of the Newcomers don't have an idea about the value of steem power. It's simply the power you have. But I have seen, most of the Newcomers, just sell it from the start.

Recently, Randula shared a beautiful article about the importance of it. Please go through it, What is the Use of Steem Power?. You will get a perfect idea about the importance of growing your power.

So, not only the Newcomers, always try to focus on these three basics. Don't just give up! Just believe in yourself. Miracles do happen!
