A few days ago, environmental pollution was the main topic in our country. And also we could see there in India, urban areas were highly affected by air pollution. Even they couldn't see the roads clearly. Before this pandemic, global environmental pollution was increased highly. Air pollution, water pollution happened with a bad impact on the earth. In our country, most of the rural areas remained, but the towns were highly polluted due to the recklessness of people.

While talking about environmental pollution, we can't forget about the polluted sea beaches and the sea. The majority of careless people, who can't understand the fact that we have to be responsible enough to protect where we survive, used to throw away plastic and polythene wastes to the sea. If we add a plastic bottle to the seawater, it can cause any other country's environmental pollution, as well as a threat for the living beings in the marine environment.

Recently, there was an incident regarding a burnt ship in our sea area. It highly affected our marine environment badly, many sea creatures lost their lives and the sea beaches also polluted. Those days all the Sri Lankans talked about it, it was the first news on media. With time, all have forgotten it and there's no guaranty that something like that won't happen again.

By the way, with the outbreak of the Coronavirus, people were locked in their houses. It caused a decrease in environmental pollution. We could see the hidden greeny environment of cities, air pollution was reduced more than it was. It happened because most of the vehicles did not travel on the roads due to the restrictions. People hadn't chance to go on trips or to spend time on the beach. As a result, the amount of garbage that could be dumped into the sea was reduced.


Every single person can get the actions to protect the environment even from a simple thing. We can bring them home, such as phone cards, food packagings, bus tickets without throwing them away in public places. We can dispose them in a proper way. When we go to a shop it's good to use a reusable one like a clothe bag while rejecting the polythene bags. It's good to use public transportation if there's no matter with time.

Recently I saw a few differences in some products such as milo milk packets and spoons of highland yogurt. I think you all have seen the advertisement on TV that the milo milk packet comes with a paper straw. Yesterday, my mother brought some yogurts and she had got cardboard spoons instead of plastic ones. They are some simple concepts, the most important thing is the integrity of those concepts as without a simple start there won't be a huge change. But here, we can't trust the existence of those things.

So I think that every single person should be responsible to protect the environment by avoiding at least a small mistake. If not there won't be a healthy environment to survive in the future.
