What is Steem Sri Lanka?

Steem Sri Lanka is the only active country-based community for Sri Lankan members. We are managing the community with the following objectives,

• Influencing new entrance for making quality blogs and actively use steemit as a social media
• Making social media experience more realistic by keeping in touch with other Sri Lankans
• Giving a better reward for hardworking and unique content creators all over the steemit
• Bringing the benefits of STEEM to the world out of the computer

Even though it is a country-based community, it is completely open for everyone who makes unique, creative real-life blogs with better quality.

Why people should join us? If you are a Sri Lankan and really love blogging and are willing to be active, we are here to give you better guidance and voting support. If you are not a Sri Lankan but, you are making brilliant real-life blogs or creative articles still we are here to support you.

Community Team

The community Team consists of 5 members including the admin and 4 moderators. But the majority of the posters involving decision-making and event planning.

I am representing as the community admin and @damithudaya, @sandu and @sandupi are working as moderators. The fourth moderator account, @steem-sri.lanka is our community curator account, which is handled by a separate person who we like to keep as anonymous.

All the leadership personalities are from Sri Lanka and able to handle Sinhala (our native language) and English (as a secondary language) we monitor the rest of the content using google translator.

Team members are not paid with STEEM but provided with votes on average 55% - 65% while others are voted with an average of 40%-50%. They are completely volunteering and doing this with pleasure.

Even though I am the only admin, the community is completely in hands of our members and their commitment will continue the process of the community. And I am working on preparing the next generation leadership for the community.

Community Curation Account

@steem-sri.lanka is our community curation account.

We have 194,183.69 SP including 24,293.62 Own SP and 170,290.92 SP delegated SP from 88 delegators.

Building the voting power of a newly emerging community is pretty challenging. We have our own economic limitations and we realized that it is not easy to do this alone. Our plan for increasing the steem power of the curator account is pretty simple. Early we were more focused to improve our SP with the steemcurator01 voting support but we felt it is difficult to posting something worth vote daily and we can not completely depend on this. So now we more focus on providing a better return of investment for delegators to attract them to our project. We are doing this by staying on our boundaries and keeping in mind that we are a country-based curator account. From this, both community and delegators are benefited. Also, we have expanded our curation beyond the community.

Are all the post rewards powered up, or are they used for paying delegators or members of the community team?
The answer is tricky. Currently, we are getting around 450 SP as weekly curation rewards. We return 80% of that to delegators based on their delegated amount. We power up all author rewards. But to pay for delegators we power down 5% of SP (~400 SP x 4) for pay delegators. It happens every Sunday and after paying delegators, we power up the rest of STEEM available in the wallet.

The access for the community curator account has 2 people. The curator and me. The curator person is someone completely dedicated to this and does a very unbiased curation.

We have made more than 300 upvotes per week. We vote following parties :

1. Posts of Steem Sri Lanka Community
2. Posts of delegators
3. Posts submit through discord post promotion
4. Posts of special events that we sponsor

Currently, we maintain 90% of the minimum voting mana in order to give maximum value to the vote. It may vary from time to time depending on the market situation. We like not to limit inside the community but to spread our votes all over the steemit.

The community curator account does not do self voting and does not vote our charity account as a standard.

99% of the posts in the community are voted by the community curator account. The remaining 1% is poor quality or community rule violations.

Plagiarism & Abuse

We are keen on reward farming, multiple accounts, plagiarism, spamming and meaningless content. When we figure out a new poster we check his behavior and history to make sure whether we are not feeding the wrong person. This process made our community spam-free and full of attractive articles.

@sandupi and @sandu are hunting for plagiarism and we decide actions after a group discussion. Checking plagiarism of Spanish content is one of the challenges we have. We mute plagiarized posts and if a person continuously spamming or plagiarizing we mute them completely. We completely manage these activities internally.

Engagement & Commenting

This is something we highly expect from all "members". We expect this from Sri Lanka members because this is their own community. When we don't see members are not engaging, moderators are authorized to drop comments by asking to use voting power and do comments. We have given 5 comments per day target for each member. Those who engage more in the community will receive more support.

An average of 10 comments are there in posts depends on the interest of reading.

Plans & Updates

The ultimate plan in terms of members is, building a very active community where people commit to posting not because of the vote, but because this is a fun place.

In terms of the economy, we try to improve our ability of voting. We try a lot to build our curation trail to make at least a 5$ payout on each member for 40% vote. We have ups and downs but still, we are working on it. We have a very limited amount of resources but we do manage them with no complaints.

We want to build more dolphins from Sri Lanka and building members who remain for a long with steemit.

Promotion

We have tried multiple ways of promotions but the following are the working mechanisms currently we are using.

1. Discord channel - Very impressive way to share our information and taking other's feedback. Also it helps others to reach us easy and discuss.

2. Contests - We have organized multiple series of contests and they were very successful. Even now we are doing a comment contest series.

3. Curation - we do curation in many other communities when we have VP. We make a comment with our details and sometimes with our updates. So that more people attract.

4. SL-Charity - We do this to promote steem outside the community and also to complete our social responsibility. Please visit our official charity account @sl-charity to read reports on our all charity events. This is completely running with the beneficiary and author payout of @sl-charity account.
   

5. Intercommunity Cooperation - We always try to work with other community admins and community projects. Currently, we are in a collaborative project Trickle Up with Italy Community. We vote on the Italian trickle-up selections while the Italy community organizing the project. And we worked with Venezolanos Steem during their very first day to give additional vote supports and won the hearts of so many venezeulans. We are doing maximum with our ability as a small community.

What Else?

why your community should be selected for extra support?
Because we do extra.. Steem Sri Lanka is a plagiarism-free community, with original and meaningful articles. These writers deserve more support for the time they spend.

Because members work hard. They spend their time and effort to keep the community live. They comment they read, they organize contests, they delegate and power up our curation account, they allocate rewards from their payouts to charity. It's good to have some additional votes to collect some funds for charity.

Because we are trying a lot to manage our resources. We have few resources but we manage them without making any complaint. We have shown better results but working very hard.
