The Power of Pride

in Knack4buzz3 days ago (edited)
Pride is that feeling that unites, to a greater or lesser extent, all living beings. It is the force that pushes us to show who we are, without fear, without shame. It is our successes that generate that sense of self-esteem and satisfaction with who we are and what we do.

Pride can manifest in different ways and can embrace different contexts. Each of us expresses it based on our character and the context in which we grew up.

Achieving goals that required much sacrifice, recognition for one’s talent, the celebration of one’s identity and cultural belonging, or something one is connected to, as in the case of LGBTQ+ Pride.

For many of you, these may seem like obsolete and well-established topics in the social fabric, but unfortunately, in many countries, they are still full of taboos, forcing many people to live in the shadows. To them, I want to dedicate my post, to reaffirm the complete naturalness and freedom of everyone’s feelings, just as Mother Nature intended.

Today I present to you six cartoons that tell the essence of pride during the Pride parade on June 29, 2024, in Milan. During this extraordinary event, I reflected on why even today politics and the powers that be oppose this simple reality. I wanted to share my experience through the eyes of some mammals and birds who were eager to share their pride with you.

Enjoy!

Motivations & Sources

With these cartoons, I wanted to express that love and affection between individuals of the same sex are natural and present in many forms of life.

Lions form affectionate bonds that strengthen group cohesion.

Dolphins display affectionate and cooperative behaviors among individuals of the same sex, enhancing social cooperation Wikipedia livescience.com

Same-sex penguin couples share nesting duties and raise chicks together, demonstrating that love and collaboration are universal Encyclopedia Britannica

Swans form lasting monogamous pairs, including same-sex bonds, involving courtship and mutual care Wikipedia

Monkeys use homosexual behaviors to strengthen social bonds and reduce group tensions Wikipedia

Even giraffes exhibit affectionate behaviors and sexual interactions between same-sex individuals, contributing to social cohesion livescience.com

This comparison highlights how diversity, both in animals and humans, not only exists but is an essential and natural element of life.

I hope the translation expresses my soul as I perceived it.
