✨3. Abdullah---The respected father of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)---

His mother's name was Fatima and she was the daughter of Amr bin A'id bin Imran bin Makhzoom bin Yaqza bin Marrah. Among the children of Abdul Muttalib, Abdullah was the most beautiful, pure and beloved and was called Zabih.

The reason for being called Zabih was that when the number of Abdul Muttalib's sons reached ten and they became worthy of protection. Abdul Muttalib informed them of his vow. All of them agreed.

After that, Abdul Muttalib wrote the names of all of them on the arrows of fate---and handed them over to the guardians of Hubl. The Qaim drew lots by spinning the arrows, and Abdullah's name came out.

Abdullah took Abdullah's hand, took the knife, and took him to the Kaaba to slaughter him. But the Quraysh and Abdullah's nephews, namely the Banu Makhzum, and Abdullah's brother Abu Talib, came to their aid.

Then Abdullah said, "What should I do with my vow?" They advised him to go to a woman in Arafa and seek a solution. Abdullah went to a fortune-teller in Arafa. She said, "Abdullah, let him draw lots among ten camels. If Abdullah's name is drawn, then add ten more camels."

Continue to add camels and draw lots until Allah is pleased. Then, when the camels are chosen, slaughter them.

Abdul Muttalib returned and drew lots between Abdullah and the camels, but the lot was in Abdullah's name.

After that, he added ten camels and continued to draw lots, but the lot was in Abdullah's name. When a hundred camels were complete, the lot was in the name of the camels.

Now Abdul Muttalib slaughtered them in place of Abdullah and left them there. There was no obstacle for any human or animal. Before this incident, the amount of blood money (dyt) among the Quraysh and Arabs was ten camels, but after this incident it was increased to one hundred camels.

Islam also maintained this quantity. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) that he said: I am the son of two sacrifices. One is Hazrat Ismail (peace be upon him) and the other is your father Abdullah.
