🍂The Elephant Incident ::-

The summary of the second incident is that when Abraha Sabah of Abyssinia (who was the governor-general of the Negus king of Abyssinia) saw that the Arabs were performing the Hajj to the Kaaba, he built a huge church in Sana'a.

And he wanted to divert the Hajj of the Arabs to that direction, but when a man from Banu Kinanah heard about it, he entered the church at night and threw a latrine in its direction.

When Abraha found out, he became very angry. And he set out with an army of sixty thousand warriors to demolish the Kaaba. He also chose a powerful elephant for himself. There were nine or thirteen elephants in the army.

Abraha, having invaded from Yemen, reached Mughammas and there, having organized his army and prepared the elephant, set out to enter Mecca. When he reached the Muhassir Valley between Muzdalifah and Mina, the elephant sat down and did not get up to move towards the Kaaba. If it was pointed towards the north, south or east, it would get up and start running, but if it was pointed towards the Kaaba, it would sit down.

At that time, Allah sent a flock of sparrows which dropped stones like pebbles on the army and Allah made them like eaten straw. These sparrows were like the Ababeel and the Qamari. Each sparrow had three pebbles, one in its beak and two in its paws, the pebbles were like chickpeas, but whoever was hit by them, his limbs would start to atrophy and he would die.

These stones did not hit every man, but such a stampede broke out in the army that each man was running, trampling and crushing the other. Then the fleeing people were falling on every road and dying at every spring.

Meanwhile, he sent such a disaster on Abraha that the tips of his fingers fell off and by the time he reached Sana'a he became like a chick. Then his chest was torn open, his heart came out and he died.

At the time of Abraha's attack, the inhabitants of Mecca had scattered in the valleys for fear of their lives and had hidden on the mountain tops. When the punishment was inflicted on the army, they returned to their homes in peace.

This incident - according to most of the people of Seer - took place in the month of Muharram, fifty or fifty-five days before the birth of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so it is an event that occurred in late February or early March of 571 AD.
