Arab Governments and Chieftaincies
Kingdom of Hira:-
The Persians had been ruling Iraq and its surrounding areas since the time of Cyrus the Great (Khorus or Cyrus Dhul-Qarnayn 557 BC-529 BC). No one dared to challenge them until 326 BC when Alexander the Great defeated the Persians and broke their power, resulting in the fragmentation of their country and the beginning of the royal succession.
This chaos continued until 230 AD, and during this time the Qahtani tribes left their homeland and settled in a large, fertile and border area of Iraq. Then the Adnani immigrants arrived and they made a part of the island of Faraya their home.
Meanwhile, in 226, when Ardashir overthrew the Sassanid government, the power of the Persians gradually returned. Ardashir defeated the Persians and subdued the Arabs living on the border of his country. As a result, Qada'ah took the path of Syria, while the Arab inhabitants of Hira and Anbar became tributaries.
During the reign of Ardashir, the Rabi'i and Mudari tribes of Hira, Badiya al-Iraq and Jazirah were ruled by the chieftain of al-Wadh. It seems that Ardashir had realized that it was not possible to rule the Arabs directly and prevent them from plundering the border, but the only way to do so was to make an Arab himself their ruler who had the support and backing of his family and tribe. One of its advantages would be that in times of need, help could be sought from them against the Romans and the Arab rulers of Iraq could be set up against the pro-Roman Arab rulers of Syria.
The Shah of Hira always had a unit of the Persian army with him, which was used to suppress the Bedouin Arab rebels.
