PART :-••5

Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) used to visit Mecca from time to time to take care of his belongings. However, it is not known how often he visited Mecca. However, the historical sources have preserved the details of his visit four times. These are:

  1. It is stated in the Holy Quran that Allah Almighty showed Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) in a dream that he was sacrificing his son (Hazrat Ismail (peace be upon him). This dream was a kind of divine command and both father and son were ready for this divine command and when both of them bowed their heads and the father laid his son on his forehead, Allah called out: "O Ibrahim (peace be upon him)! You have made the dream come true. Thus do We reward the righteous. Surely it was an open trial and Allah gave them a sacrifice as a ransom.

The Book of Genesis of the Bible mentions the incident that Hazrat Ishmael (peace be upon him) was thirteen years older than Hazrat Ishaq (peace be upon him) and the context of the Quran indicates that this incident took place before the birth of Hazrat Ishaq (peace be upon him). Because after describing the entire incident, the good news of the birth of Hazrat Ishaq (peace be upon him) is mentioned.

This incident proves that Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) must have traveled to Mecca at least once before Hazrat Ishmael (peace be upon him) became young. The details of the remaining three trips are in a long tradition of Sahih Bukhari which is narrated from Ibn Abbas..

Summary of it Here it is:

  1. When Hazrat Ismail (AS) became young, learned Arabic from Jurham and started to be admired by them, those people married him to a woman from their family. In the meantime, Hazrat Hajar (AS) passed away and Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) felt that he should see his inheritance. So he went to Mecca. But Hazrat Ismail (AS) did not meet him. He inquired about the situation from his daughter-in-law. She complained of poverty. He (AS) made a will that when Ismail (AS) came, he should tell him to change the door frame. Hazrat Ismail (AS) understood the meaning of this will and divorced his wife and married another woman who was the daughter of Mudadh bin Amr, the chief of Jurham......
