May Allah Almighty grant Ishmael (peace be upon him) twelve sons from the daughter of Mudad, whose names are: - Nabat or Nabayut, Kedar, Ubayel, Mabsham, Mishma', Duma, Mesha, Hadd, Teima, Jetur, Nafis, Kediman.

From these twelve sons, twelve tribes came into existence and all of them settled in Mecca. Their economy was mostly based on trade with Yemen, Egypt and Syria. Later, these tribes spread to different parts of the Arabian Peninsula----and even outside Arabia----and their circumstances remained shrouded in the thick darkness of time. Only the descendants of Nabat and Kedidar are exempt from this anonymity.

The civilization of the Nabataeans flourished and rose in the northern Hijaz. They established a powerful government and made the surrounding people their tributaries. Batra was their capital. No one could compete with them. Then the Romans came and they made the Nabatis a thing of the past. Maulana Syed Sulaiman Nadvi, after an interesting discussion and deep research, has proven that the Ghassan and Ansar, i.e. the Aws and Khazraj, were not Qahtani Arabs. Rather, they were the descendants of Nabat bin Ismail (peace be upon him) who were left in that area.

The descendants of Qaidar bin Ismail (peace be upon him) continued to flourish in Mecca until the time of Adnan and then his son Ma’d. The lineage of the Adnani Arabs has been preserved correctly up to this point.

Adnan is the twenty-first in line with the Prophet (peace be upon him). It is stated in some narrations that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned his lineage, he would stop at Adnan and not go further. He said that genealogists write incorrectly, but a group of scholars believe that lineage is also mentioned beyond Adnan. He has declared this narration weak. According to his research, there are forty generations between Adnan and Abraham (peace be upon him).

However, from Ma'ad's son Nizar... about whom it is said that Ma'ad had no children apart from him... many families came into existence...
