@djanita Dairy Game || Surviving Viva Week: A Rollercoaster of Stress and Achievement
Viva and evaluation week is no less than a marathon for us. Every morning begins with a new stress and I keep working on my project and presentation all day long, that too without a break.
Every day this week is spent thinking that every small detail should be perfect because the professors have tough questions and their focus is on everything.
One mistake and the entire project can be criticised.
My morning used to begin with a small preparation session. Switching on the laptop, giving last minute touches to my slides and revising notes had become my daily routine. While rehearsing for the presentation, sometimes I felt that perhaps I was forgetting something and this thought made me even more restless. One day there was a viva and the next day I had to give a practical demonstration of the project, both equally important and challenging.
When my first viva started, the beating of my heart became faster. While sitting in front of the panel, it was important to show confidence but the panic inside was of a different level. The professors focused on theoretical aspects along with technical questions. I felt that they judged the project from every angle.
But thankfully, all the hard work we had put in got reflected in the positive feedback. After the marriage, I got some relief, but still the stress of the upcoming sessions was not letting me go away.
There was a day in the middle of the week when I felt that I was totally overworked. That day my mother gave me tea and dry fruits.
She said that if the mind is sharp, then you will perform better. Along with the tea, it worked as a motivation and I felt that maybe now I can give a better performance. The kick of caffeine revived me and the nutty flavour of dry fruits kept making me feel healthy.
On the last day of the evaluation, there was a group presentation. The performance of all of us 4 members of our group was linked and matched with each other.
When I was seeing the coding errors on my IDE , I started getting anxious because if one mistake occurred, everyone's work could be ruined which was not needed at that time. I am happy that my teamwork and mutual support with my group was so mutual and cooperated.
Everyone's coordination in my group was elite , it was perfect as during the presentation we answered every question confidently and so nicely . When the teacher gave positive remarks we felt a sense of accomplishment and self proudness.
This whole hectic week taught me how important it is for life to handle stress and pressure.
Every night when I did a post-mortem of my work, I felt as if I had gone through this week with a new learning.
These moments of university life are very hectic and they cant be ever forgotten. And these are the days that prepare us for the challenges of practical life and industrial life.
