How To Start On Steemit
You have signed up on Steemit and now want to start as a blogger on this platform. But you're nervous and scared and have no idea what to do. You heard about this platform on YouTube, Facebook, on an advertisement or from a friend. You first heard about it years back and now you have come back to it and you have no idea what to do. You don't know how things work here or where do you need to start from. If you find yourself in any of the above mentioned situations, do not worry. I have got you.
Read this post carefully and thoroughly to know where should you be starting on this platform and what should you be doing. Lets begin:
Newcomers Community
The first thing you need to do when you signup on this platform is to join the Newcomers Community and Post your Achievement 1. You might be wondering what Achievement 1 is? It's the first introductory post on Steemit in which you post your verification photo.
In this picture that I have posted, you can see how I posted my Achievement task 1. I have held up a paper upright. On this paper I have written my username and the date I joined steemit very clearly.
You should keep in mind a few things when you're posting your Achievement 1 task in the Newcomers Community
- The verification picture should be very clear
- The text written on the paper should be clear and readable.
- Your verification picture shouldn't be edited
- you should introduce yourself properly, using only original pictures.
Now, once you have completed your achievement task 1, you should now move on towards the next step, and that is to find yourself communities that interest you. There are a lot of things that fascinate us, things we're interested in. There are a lot of communities present on Steemit and oftentimes Newcomers get confused in chosing them. There are country based as well as interest based communities on Steemit. You just need to choose the right one(s) to start blogging into.

Contests
Contests are one of the most integral part of Steemit. You'll notice this by yourself that every community has their own ongoing contests every week. These contests are for all the users on this platform. Take part in these contests. How will it benefit you?
- You'll get to engage with a lot of users from all around the world
- It'll improve your skills.
- You'll have a chance of winning prizes.
Thankfully, @disconnect posts every day about the ongoing contests on Steemit. You can follow him and see the current contests on Steemit.
Recently, I announced a contest in which I have asked the users to take part in it and come up with new ideas for steemit. If you think you're one of those people, who can think of new ideas, this contest is for you. You can take part in it and win rewards.
Steemit Engagement Challenge
Recently, since past 4-5 months, the Steemit team came up with an amazing idea of the Steemit Engagement Challenge. In this initiative, every month, a total of 7 communities are selected. These 7 communities post one contest each week in which all of us can take part.
This Engagement Challenge has upped the level of a lot of users on this platform. Everyone takes part in these contests and engage with users. You also have a chance of being curated by the Steemit team, ie, Steemcurator01/02. So take part in these challenges and strengthen your position on this platform.
You can check the selected Communites on this announcement by @steemitblog:
Steemit Update [ August 22nd, 2022 ] : Steemit Engagement Challenge Communities for Season 4
After mentioning the Communites and the contests on this platform, it is important to guide you all on what you have to do. To be a good writer is not an easy task. You have to come up with original content and blogs which attract users to read and engage with them. So let me list down a few things that you'll need to do in order to do good on Steemit:
No Plagirism
Plagirism is absolutely not tolerated on Steemit. It is against the Proof of Brain. If you want to copy stuff off the internet in hopes of getting appreciation and rewards on Steemit, then this is not the platform for you.
Come up with unique and good content. Add value to the platform. Offer something to the users on this platform and you'll see yourself reaching heights.
Write Good Posts
What is a good post? It's a very common question asked by a lot of users. I'll give my two cents on this topic
A good post, for me, is the one which is not forced. A post that comes right from the heart. A post that is intended to attract readers, rather than curators. If you're writing a good post, I guarantee you, you'll be appreciated more often than not. Try not to have any expectations. Use understandable language and good presentation for your blog. Soon, I'll also post a guideline on how to be a good blogger on Steemit. It'll be a detailed post covering all the aspects of a good blog.
You can write about your daily life and people will he intrigued to read about it. It's all about how you present it. Don't try to blend in with people. Be unique.
Engage With Other Users
I cannot stress enough, how important comments are on Steemit. A post with meaningful comments is a 100 times better than a post with no comments. Make this your habit to engage with other users' posts. Leave meaningful comments on them. Show them that you've read their posts and that you're interested in their content.
Comments motivate people to write high quality posts as they know that there are users who'll be reading their content. This increases the value of the Platform and in turn benefits all of us. So make sure you're commenting of people's posts.
Vote On Posts
Use your Steem Power. Use your Voting Power. Vote on users'posts that you found interesting. Vote on your community members. Use your Voting Power.
At the start of the day, each user has 100% voting power. If you're voting 100% on any post, it will decrease your Voting power to 98%. This means you can vote at least 10 posts with 100% voting power. But, you can also vote on posts with 50% this will allow you to vote on more posts
Keep in mind, that if are motivating other people through your votes, other users will also try to encourage you. It's the law of Nature. Goodness attracts goodness.
Club5050
It's very important to follow #club5050. What is club5050? It's when you powerup 50% of your earnings from a post payout.
Recently I compiled all the necessary details related to clubs for the users who still have a difficulty in understanding them. You can go through this post.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it takes a lot of determination and consistency to leave your mark on Steemit but trust me it's very much possible. All you need to do is to lower your expectations of recieving rewards every now and then, and focus more on being a good content creator
I know, it's normal human behavior to expect appreciation and rewards, but never have this as your first priority. Not only on Steemit but in life as well. Don't do good in expectations of getting it back. Try to be good on your own. Be great without any complains and see yourself becoming the greatest.
You won't become the best in a matter of days. It'll take time, hard work and consistency. But I promise you if you follow all of the steps mentioned above, such as writing good content, following clubs, engaging with users, you'll have a huge chance of reaching heights.
This is it for now, I hope you benefitted from this post. I'll try to come up with more posts like these that will help in maintaining a healthy Steem ecosystem.
Regards,
Huzaifa Naveed
Very good and useful! Hopefully no further drop on a hot stone… ;-)
Remark: It‘s not @discord but @disconnect who collects the running contests.
tropfen auf den heißen stein. hahaha das habe ich mal in meinem Deutsch Klasse gelesen. Did I use correct grammar? :-)
Oops my bad. I'll correct it.
Hihi, almost... ;-)
'Die Klasse' is feminine. In the dative case, the article (companion of a noun) changes it to der:
Das habe ich mal in meiner Deutsch-Klasse gelesen.
Don't worry: dealing with noun accompaniments is the very biggest challenge for learners of the German language.
The tiny spelling mistakes can be neglected. You could remember that nouns are written with a capital letter:
Tropfen auf den heißen Stein
Anyway - I'm delighted that you speak some German... :-)
Das ist schön - Deutsch ist so eine tolle Sprache!
Oh my goddd. I wanted to rant about German language to someone for so long. So, I'll do it with you. Deutsch is sehr kompliziert. Specifically the dativ und akkusativ.
When I was learning, I felt like banging my head on the table, trying to memorize the gender of each and everything out there. A chair is a male, a cupboard is feminine and so on 🤣🤣
Nonetheless, I have done my Deutsch-kurs up to B1 and I plan to study it further.
I find it so intimidating. Imagine someone asking where are you coming from?
aus dem Krankenhaus in meinem Krankenwagen
But, I love learning German. Who knows, in future I might shift to Germany. Fingers crossed
Hihi, I won't rant about the German language because I love it. Maybe that's the only reason for me teaching it?!
Yes, it is complicated, I can understand that well. Intimidating? Well, you don't have to be afraid of making mistakes - anyone who stumbles and grumbles about it has to ask themselves how well they know a foreign language, or if at all.
In that case, don't forget to ring my front doorbell.... ;-)
Hello contact me on my instagram fizza6839 . I want to ask something related to steemit .
This is a very useful post. I am gonna share it with all the newbies. 😀
Thank youuu.
I am also a newbie here and your post is very helpful, especially you described that anybody can choose community accordingly and your views about writing a good post which surely comes from our heart
Such a useful post! You adviced users not to have any unnecessary expectations is the best part!
Can I use this single line blackish blue image? 🙊
Yes sure.
Dear sir @huzaifanaveed1 your post is very important and helpfully for newcomers on Steemit platform
Very useful information about starting of Steemit
Hi again @huzaifanaveed1
I found it very confusing to start "adventure" on Steemit. Truth be told, I wish STINC team would prepare some tutorials/guidelines for beginners (including few youtube videos) and make them easily to find by newcomers.
Great introduction. I wish I could still drop some solid upvote to show my support.
ps.
I've been around for few years and only thanks to you I just learned about Newcomers Community existance. Thanks.
Cheers, Piotr
