Why women should be physically strong! My bag snatching incident!

I hope you all are doing great. It’s Mominacheema07 from Pakistan. I have recently joined steemit and its my first blog since I started posting on steemit from 31st August 2021. Only after few days of joining steemit I had a minor accident which I want to share with you guys.

In my introduction I mentioned that I love yoga and practice it almost every other day. Before I use to do yoga to stay healthy and at peace but after the recent incident I have realized that how important it is specially for girls not only in Pakistan but all around the world to be physically strong and to stay vigilant of their surroundings whenever they go out. Yoga or any physical activity like playing sports of your choice, be it swimming, playing tennis or even playing tag can actually make you physically strong and makes you mentally alert.
So here is what happened. I took my nephew who is almost three and a half years old along with my sister to a shop in F-10 Markaz which is just across my street. It was almost 8:30 at night and whosoever lives in Islamabad and visits F-10 markaz will be well aware that how busy area it is.

How cute is my naughty nephew though ? :)

So when I reached F-10 Markaz I parked my car in the parking area and started walking towards the shop and suddenly I felt the burning sensation in my wrist and arm and I thought that may be a car or motorbike passed by too closely and I got a scratch from it but suddenly I realized that my bag was being snatched by two guys who were riding on a motorbike.
Normally whenever I go out I don’t really take my bag with me but because my nephew was with me so I took my bag as its easier to carry cash and mobile phone in it. So I was holding my nephew with my left hand and my other hand was on my bag. The bag was snatched and its strap which was quite long was slipping from my hand so the moment I realized that what was actually happening I held onto my bag’s strap firmly and pulled it towards me and started shouting. My bag’s strap broke as they were riding on the bike and I was walking still I didn’t let go off the broken strap which was still intact with the bag and I ran towards the bike and left my nephew with my sister. Finally I was able to snatch back my bag from the hand of the guy who was sitting on the backside of the motorbike as his hand was hanging in the air as he couldn’t get the complete grip of the bag as I was pulling it towards me through the strap. Luckily a man who sells toys in the F-10 markaz who was little behind me also ran towards them and also started shouting that “rukooo rukoo” (meaning stop in English). So the guy who was sitting at the back of the bike looked back and I saw his half face and I could tell from his dressing and face that he actually belonged to a good family and he wasn’t very poor or in bad shape. So by seeing me and the other man running towards them they started riding the bike in full speed and turned towards the nearby street and Alhamdulillah my bag remained in my hand and he was not able to take it from me.

(The guy in the picture is the one who helped me. Picture was taken with his consent and i informed him that will be posted on social media and he agreed. All these pictures are of the spot in F-10 where this incident took place and by the way in the 2nd picture its just the street light and not a shooting star :) ).

The saddest part during the whole incident was that there were 5-6 waiters sitting at the spot who were witnessing the whole incident didn’t come for help nor uttered a single word and after the incident they started laughing and made a remark that she must have a lot of money in the bag.
Anyways I had minor bruises and scratches on my wrist and arm but my shoulder muscle was pulled because of which I wasn’t able to move my right hand and had pain in my neck. After taking muscle relaxants and pain killers for few days I am feeling a lot better now and I am able to type but sadly I couldn’t do my yoga which hopefully I will be able to do in 2 – 3 days InShaAlla.

I think I was able to get out of this incident without any major harm and loss only due to yoga which has made me physically strong and I was able to tackle the situation. So I request you all regardless of your gender to please pay attention to your physical health which is important for not only to tackle such scenarios but is also very important to make your immune system strong which can help you fight not only Covid but other deadly dieses as well.
And I would like to urge all the people reading this post that whenever you guys witness any such incident please at least make some noise so that robbers or offenders get scared and runaway.
I hope my story will prove beneficial for you guys and I wish you all good health and peace.

Stay safe and happy :)

Glad that you are safe, I believe you might need to register an application(FIR) for the incident so that the police can take some action - I think you haven't seen the number plate of the snatcher's bike because of the incident but the Safe City Project might help you and the others.

@salmanwains Safe City kam toh karta hai naw :p???

Once the same incident happened with one of my friends who was using his phone while riding on the bike near Faizabad, Murree Road. Snatchers snatched his phone and run away. He tried to chase them and they shot fire on him. So I think that's the reason behind the silence of the nearby people.

Stay Safe...!

Thank you brother @jawad101.

I believe you might need to register an application(FIR)

I have reported the incident at nearby police station not so sure if FIR was launched.

He tried to chase them and they shot fire on him.

Oho that's extremely sad. I feel so sorry for him i hope he is ok now.

May God keep is all safe! Ameen.
