Mushfiqur Rahim is a renowned Bangladeshi cricketer, who was born in Bogra, Bangladesh on 9th June, 1987. He is a right-handed middle order batsman as well as a wicketkeeper.
Mushfiqur initiated his career by way of playing for U19 Bangladesh in both tests and youth ODIs. Mushfiqur Rahim was also the captain of Bangladeshi team U19 all through U19 World Cup 2006, which involved players like Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan. Rahim’s leadership led Bangladeshi team to quarterfinals of that particular tournament.
On 26th May, 2005, Mushfiqur Rahim made his first international debut in late youths, at Lord’s, once he was the part of Bangladesh squad that toured England for the very first time. He was elected as an expert batsman with the existence of Khaled Mashud as former wicketkeeper. He scored 19 runs in his first inning though could not appear in rest of the series on account of an ankle injury.
On 6th August, 2006, Mushfiqur Rahim played his first ODI match against Zimbabwe, at Harare wherein he scored his first half century. His remarkable performances made him a consistent part of the Bangladesh squad not only as a batter but as a wicket keeper also. Late that year, he also made his first international T20 debut alongside Zimbabwe on 28th November 2006.
In the year 2007, Bangladeshi captain Mohammad Ashraful and Mushfiqur had a recorded 6th wicket partnership of 191 runs alongside Sri Lanka. Once scoring a number of fifties, he was elected as the vice-captain of Bangladeshi team. His consistent and versatile way of batting assisted him to become a permanent team member of Bangladesh squad and moreover, he also became the top most choice of wicket-keeper.
After ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, Bangladesh toured Pakistan for an ODI series wherein Mushfiqur lost his position to Dhiman Ghosh. He was performing alongside Asian squads though was not successful against England and South Africa.
In the year 2011, Mushfiqur Rahim emerged as the captain of Bangladesh team all through the tour to West Indies. He was declared as the Man of the Match in his initial match as a captain. Mushfiqur lost ODIs though won T20 series for his team. His central agreement kept on expanding from B to A and afterwards to A+. In the year 2014, Mushfiqur Rahim lost his captaincy and the control was handed over to Mashrafe Mortaza. In the year 2017, Mushfiqur emerged as the first wicketkeeper for Bangladeshi team to take around 100 dismissals.
