Policeman 1: I know it must be hard for you right now but you have to find a way to stay strong for your daughter and grandson (Dickson immediately begins to shed tears).
Policeman 2: (Gently tapping his back) It’s okay…it’s okay sir.

THE NEXT MORNING

Nurse 2: Mr. Dickson Wallace

Dickson: (jerks out of his sleep even though this hour is the only time he tried to rest his head since the incident) Yeah...I’m here, it’s me.

Nurse 2: Your daughter is alive.

Dickson: My daughter? Oh, thanks to heaven! (He says with teary eyes).

Nurse 2: But (she continues).

Dickson: But what?

Nurse 2: She experienced what we call a displaced fracture.

Dickson: Oh god!! Where?

Nurse 2: On her leg: her right leg. She will be fine sir. Her injury would be properly treated. She would walk again.

Dickson: o..okay. Thank god!! So? So?

Nurse 2: So what?

Dickson: You haven’t said anything about my grandson. What about my grandson?

Nurse 2: His…his…(stuttering) His case is quite more complicated than that of your daughter’s.

Dickson: (Shocked) How? How complicated? (He asks with both eyes widely opened).

Nurse 1: (walks out of the patient’s room) Mr. Dickson, can I see you?

Dickson: Yes, you can (He says after which he walks past nurse 2).

Nurse 1: I guess she must have told you the state of your family members (She says as she points to Nurse 2).

Dickson: Yes…yes, she told me that my daughter is alive but has a few fractures, What about my grandson? Were you able to save his life?

Nurse 1: I am sorry Mr. Dickson but your grandson’s life left his body a long time ago. I am sorry he did not make it; I am so sorry (she kept saying as she walked back into the room).

Mr. Dickson just stands there; he cannot cry: he can’t say anything. He carefully walks to a chair and sits down. His eyes are red yet no tears fall from them. At this point, he knows this day is the worst day of his life.

FROM A NEWS CHANNEL

Newscaster: The black Mercedes which crashed into a car owned by a woman who had her son at the back of the seat was found by a ranch at hermitage street. The police say that the car was covered with ammonia and that whoever did this did it on purpose. The car is still in police custody. Police inspector, Mr. Gary Prescott said that necessary measures are being taken and that the perpetrator or perpetrators would be brought to book.

The old man who tried to stop Murphy also spoke as a witness

Old man: I saw him: I kept looking at him to know what he was up to. After a while, the car engine went off and he walked away from the car. I called ou to him but he pretended not to hear me. I followed him but he ran away when he saw I was getting close.

Meanwhile, Murphy is watching the news at the moment.

Natasha: Murphy, are you in there?

Murphy: (peeps through the window) Oh jeez…(quickly switches off the television and opens the door).

Natasha: (enters into the house) Hmmm.
Murphy: what is it?

Natasha: Am I allowed to sit? (Gives Murphy a funny look).

Murphy: Of course, you can sit. What the hell is wrong with you?

Natasha: Nothing… (Exhales loudly) Are you angry with me?

Murphy: Angry with you? No…. No … I am not angry with you.

Natasha: I called you throughout last night but you did not answer nor return the calls, why?

Murphy: Nat… I am not in a good mood.

Natasha: My point really. Are you ever in a good mood?

Murphy: Nat… I don’t have time to listen to your complaint. Please just leave me alone.

Natasha: I hope you know you getting fired is not my fault.

Murphy: Of course, I know. I never said it was your fault.

Natasha: So, what are you going to do then?

Murphy: Are you here to suggest the next miserable path for me or what?
