MY FATHER'S JOURNEY AMIDST THE PANDEMIC
"You have to be at your strongest when you're feeling at your weakest."
A lot of us are facing different battles most especially in this pandemic. Some survived and some joined the Almighty Father.
Today, I will be sharing to you guys my father's journey. The battle of my father so that he can be able to walk again.
6 years ago, my dad suffered from a vehicular accident. His hip was fractured and undergone a hip surgery. A titanium was attached to the fracture so that he can walk.
With God's grace, even though it's not the same as before, he managed to walk six months after the surgery. We thought everything was fine and he recovered well but not until 2021 came.
May 2021 he got his first dose of Pfizer. A day after he was experiencing high fever and fatigue. We thought it was just a side effect of the vaccine but he started to feel pain in his right hips.
Unfortunately his doctor was out of town, we waited for 3 weeks to be able to do a consultation.
I can't imagine the agony that my dad was suffering. The consultation came and he was advise to undergo immediate surgery.
He undergone surgery last June 2021, the problem was getting worst. During the operation, the doctor said that they can't replace the titanium plates due to the abscess found inside his hip joints.
It was a miracle that my dad didn't suffered SEPSIS (the body's extreme response to an infection). It is a life-threatening medical emergency that if it was not acted immediately it can cause death.
The doctor scheduled my dad for another operation last August 6, 2021.
The seven-hour operation was challenging, we didn't know what was going to happen. If it will be a successful or not. He needed to undergo blood transfusion because he lost a lot of blood during the surgery. He got 2 bags of blood.
Finally, the long wait was over. What a sigh of relief indeed! My dad got transfered to the recovery room. Even though there are problems encountered but we are so thankful to God that he gave my father strength to be able to survive.
A day after his surgery another laboratory test fail it's normal level, his hemoglobin result was below par so he needed to undergo another blood transfusion.
Hospital Expenses
My uncles, aunt and cousins contributed any amount of money to help my father in his expenses. He also applied for a 220,000 salary loan to gather additional funds for the operation.
For the implant alone it costs PHP140,000.00
His medical expenses amounted to PHP 66, 586.00
His doctor's professional fee amounted to PHP208, 700.00
After all the discounts deducted (my father is a PWD) from PWD and Philhealth the total amount due is PHP 184, 578.00.
All in all, my father's hospital expenses amointed to 184, 578.00 + 140,00.00 = PHP 324, 578.00.
We already exceed with the amount guaranteed from my dad's salary loan and we still have his medications.
I am really thankful to God that he didn't leave our side. God is so good that he made us find a way to settle our bill.
As of now, my father is still recovering. I would like to say thank you to all the doctors and nurses who took good care of my dad. To my cousins, uncle and aunties thank you so much for your undying support, for sharing your blessing with us.
Please help me to pray for his fast recovery. It means a lot to us.
