DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBERTY AND ADOLESCENCE

Puberty

Puberty can be said to be a period of time when the body begins to mature and is able to give birth to children.

Adolescence

Adolescence is the period of early adulthood from 10-19 years.
How during this period the body begins to develop fast in size and height.

CHANGES THAT TAKE PLACE DURING PUBERTY

Puberty In Boys

The following body Changes occur in boys during their puberty stage, the are as follows👇👇.

  • Change in their voice.
  • Appearance of public hair.
  • Appearance of pimples.
  • Development of masculine looks.
  • Production of sperm.
  • Having wet dreams.
  • Sudden Increase in height.
  • Self confidence and ability to defend one's action.
  • Attractions to the opposite sex.
  • Adventurous behavior.

Puberty In Girls

The following body changes occur in girls:

  • Enlargement of the breasts and widening of hips.
  • Increase in height.
  • Appearance of pimples.
  • Appearance of public hair.
  • Onset of menstruation.
  • face becomes fuller and attractive.

There are many disadvantages at puberty stage:

  • Disruption of education and career.
  • Drop-out of school.
  • Untimely death of both mother/child.
  • Frustration/isolation.
MOTHER AND CHILD HEALTH

Maternal (Mother) health:

This is s a step taken to give adequate health care to the mother from the time she is pregnant up to the time she is delivered of the baby and is strong aging to return to her normal daily activities.

Child health:

These are step taken o give health care to the child from the time he/she is born until the age of about five years (60 months) when he/she is preparing to school.
Children needs a lot of attention and care to grow happily.

Maternal and child health ensure that both mother and the child remain as healthy as possible throughout this critical period.

At hospital, the mother receives antenatal or prenatal Care (care before birth), intranatal care (during labour and birth) and the postnatal care (after the child is bron). The child is also weighed and immunized, and treated if found unwell.

Breast feeding:

Breast feeding is the natural process of feeding the newborn baby with milk from the mother's breast.
Few minutes after a child is delivered, he /she is placed on the mother's breast to start sucking milk from the breast.

Breast milk contains all the nutrients required for the survival, growth and proper development of the child. Breast milk is the best food for the baby. A child feeds on breast milk for about one year.

REASONS FOR BREAST FEEDING

Babies milk is natural and safe for the following reasons:

  • Breast milk is natural and safe for the baby.
  • It's always ready for the baby t suck, and there is no need of preparation.
  • Breast milk is always warm and contain all types of nutrients a baby needed to grow.
  • Breast milk has sufficient fluid for the baby, for at least the first four to six months of life. There is no need for any extra liquid, including water.
  • Breast milk contains certain immunity that provides protection against some disease for the baby.
  • Breast milk helps the baby to grow stronger and healthy.
  • The breast feeding keeps the mother and the baby together always (bonding).

Exclusive Breast Feeding

In this process is when the mother feeds the baby only on breast milk for about 4-6 months from birth.
The mother dose not give the child anything at all except her breast milk, not even water.
