Compliments of the season, beautiful members of Steem kids and parents. It's good to be here once again. Today, I'm joining this contest post on creativity by @mesola and I'll be drawing a rose. Drawing is one of the skills I have tho I'm not perfect in it, but as the saying goes, practice makes perfect, so let's get to work.

• A drawing book

• coloured pencils

• Red biro

• HB pencil

• Sharpener

• An eraser

• I started with drawing the petals. I got the petal by first of all drawing a small circle, then I added two other circles on top of the first one. I then added a small cone shape under the circle but upside down, then I added another circle on the right hand side of the one already drawn.

• My next step was adding other parts of the petal to make it complete. These I did by adding other circles and also some curves where necessary.

• Then I added the sepal. This comes with the petal and the petal sits or rests on it.

• After that, I drew other parts of the petals made up of sepals/ leaves.

My final touch

With my red coloured rose which represents love. Christmas is the season of love.

A rose flower is one of the flowers commonly known by people. It can be found in the bush and it is planted by people in their homes because of its beauty. There are over 300 species of rose flowers. It comes in different colours, from pink, to red, to white, to yellow, etc. They are beautiful and have different fragrances. Due to their beauty, fragrance and symbolism, it is used on occasions fur different purposes like decorations, love, romance, etc.

• Love: The red rose symbolize deep sense of love, passion, romance, desire.

• Beauty, friendship, joy: The yellow rose represents friendship and joy.

• Appreciation : The pink rose gratitude/appreciation and admiration

• Purity and innocence: A white rose represents purity and innocence, an undefiled atmosphere or person.

So the next time you give someone a rose, give the right colour according to the non verbal message you want to pass across.
