The Diary Game||My independence Day Diary

Introduction |

So, Tuesday 1st October, was Nigeria's Independence Day. It was a public holiday and so, there was no work.
Nigeria was colonised by the British. On 1st October 1960, she was granted independence from Britain. On every 1st October, the country celebrates her independence from the British. This day is usually marked by gatherings from the nation's capital in Abuja to all the 36 states. Firstly, the day usually breaks forth with the president's speech. That same speech is often read by the 36 state governors in the federation.

On my path, to celebrate that day, I decided to give myself happiness. Firstly, I prepared my children's favourite meal, which was rice and stew. These people just know that they must eat rice. I had promised that they'd be on rice strike for a whole week and eat something different. They eat rice almost every day. I decided they'd go back to it on independence day.

That was followed by cooking my own favourite too. Yes, I also made a favourite meal for myself. Not that I make everyone's meal every day and neglect myself. After all, it was Independence Day. I decided that I'll be independent throughout that day. I made ekpang nkukwo, a native delicacy very common to the efik tribe of Cross River State and Akwa Ibom people, all in Nigeria.
It's not the kind of meal I prepare every time because it usually takes some processes and time. So by the time I finished, it was almost 11 o'clock. After I'd prepared the meal, I sat down to enjoy it before I went to do my hair at the salon.

Remember, I mentioned that it was Independence Day, so I also needed to free myself. I left my children at home because these two have made me more of a dependent because I'm always considering them.
Back from the salon
After I'd done my hair, I headed home. When I got home, I decided I was going to sleep. To help me sleep well, serious rain fell. That's how I slept and woke up by past 7pm. So I stood up and went to the kitchen to prepare dinner for my husband who usually returns home from work late. The children and I had our dinner before we went to sleep.

After preparing his dinner, I swung into steemit. I logged in and began to engage on people's posts and also engage in writing a contest. That was paused briefly because we needed to have our evening prayers. After that, I continued till I was tired and felt sleepy. That was when I dropped my phone and slept.
Nigerian kids and parents, how did you spend your independence day holiday?
