What were the dreams you had in childhood for the future.

Dreams are part of life and at any point and stage in our lives, we keep dreaming for what we have not currently Achieved. Stop dreaming, then your live ends. Such is life. Some dreams are lofty and some are moderate.

Even the Bible acknowledged that dreams come from so many preoccupations but the dream am going to talk about are those things I desired to be or to achieve in the future. I had them in my childhood.

I dreamed of becoming a Nurse

This dream came about when I saw how caring nurses are. They once cared for me when I was sick. The sickness was so severe that my right hand wanted to be amputated. It was the caring nature of the nurses along with the right treatment that was administered that healed my hand. I sincerely thanked God for them and since then, I began to nurture that dream of becoming a Nurse although I never made it known to anyone.

this the scare on my right hand. It was this injury that triggered my dream of becoming a Nurse in my childhood

But it resurfaced when my brother encouraged me to study that to see if he can help me go over to the United States Of America. I was so thankful to him. There and then, I worked hard to pass my high school and get good grades that will gain me direct entry to the school of nursing. I really made good grades. But to gain entrance, I had to write the entrance exams. I did so for 3 years and in different schools. I passed the exams but was never invited to be admitted. I later heard that one will have to be recommended by well known personality. But in the end, I never got my dream of becoming a Nurse fulfilled.

That dream was seriously supported by my older brother in the USA. He felt so disappointed but then still encouraged me to go for another dream of mine and that he will still support me.

My dream of becoming a banker and Accountant

Another dream that grew in my mind then was that of becoming a banker and a chartered accountant. Back then in my high school, I liked accounts so much. The stories that my teacher usually tell us about being a banker and an accountant really moved me. He will tell us how lucrative and professional the course is. I started having that dream as a second thing in my mind.

So when that if nurse failed, I quickly switched to studying accounts in the school. I did very well in my National Diploma and after two years, I got a job in the bank. Wow! It was a dream come true. First, I started with The fidelity bank here in Nigeria to work as a marketer with a stipend of 10500 naira which was approximately 85 steem in the year 2006 which was when I finished my National Diploma. I didn't even spend a day at home after the exam. I was invited and I started. I serves as a Marketer then and I did very well. I liked and enjoyed my stay there.

But I soon got an offer in another bank, then then Intercontinental bank. There offer was far more better than that of Fidelity bank. They paid us 25500 naira, plus hazard and launch allowance which made the total amount to be 34000 naira which is an equivalent of 263 steem. I quickly switched over to that bank and tendered my resignation in this other bank. I worked as an operation officer then. I was able to go round, as ATM card issuer, as a bulk teller, as a customer service officer and as a fund transfer officer. But in all, I worked under the supervision of my superiors. It was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed it so much. But it ended after one year because i had to go back to school and complete my Higher National Diploma in Accounting.

I also got married that year I was in the bank and when I went to school, I gradually stopped thinking about becoming a banker because I married a banker too. We were both leaving the house very early and coming back very late. I didn't like it at all. So, that was how that dream went.

I had the support of still .y older brother. He saw me through my National Diploma while my husband saw me through my Higher National Diploma.

I am currently a steemian and it is also a good one.

Who supported you in that dreams

My older brother supported me in both my first and second dream.

Which one of those dreams have you achieved.

I Achieved that of being a banker even though it was for just a short period of time but I so much felt very honored being part of the banking system.

Which one did you not achieve, What do you think went wrong?

That of becoming a Nurse. I was in no way closer to it. I didn't go to be recommended by someone. The person I met wanted to sleep with me before recommending me and I ran very far away. But all the same, If I still want to,it is not late at all. I can still achieve it. But for now,I am a steemian.

Conclusion

I am glad to have taken part in this contest. I have told us that I had the dream of becoming a Nurse as well as a banker and Accountant.

I Achieved that of being a banker but others were not Achieved. But I am hopeful.

I had the support of my older brother.

Thanks to you all for reading through. Hope you enjoyed it. See ya u in next week's contest

Thanks a lot. I appreciate your comment. I am glad to have experienced what it takes to be a banker.

You dreams where from department to department, the situation of education in Nigeria is a write off, i remembered how much we paid for admission even after meeting up the marking score, this is your case as of being a nurse, you couldn’t bring a well known personnel to run your admission for you but all in all you dream as a steemain is a great testimony

Greetings

It was an urgly experience. But am glad that I was able to change to another dream. I appreciate your comment

You are welcome ma'am

The dreams we see in childhood remain unfulfilled. As you dreamed as a child you will become a nurse. Actually you are right nurses are much more caring. But when your dream didn't come true, your dream was to become a banker, and still it was good to read your post, thank you.

When dreams are unfulfilled, it left us devastated. But I am glad that I had other options. Thanks for your comment

Well it's sad that you couldn't achieve your dream of becoming a nurse just because of bad educational system, yes as you rightly said it's not too late to make this dream come true. But I'm glad to learn that you've achieved your dream of becoming a banker though partially, no wonder you're very smart because I know what it takes to carry out all those duties you've mentioned without making any mistake. Thanks for sharing with us.

I am stunned that you didn't become a nurse due to educational system unevenness. But I am glad that you achieved one of your dream and brothers are the strongest support system after father or mother. You are lucky to have such a beloved brother. In our country, it's considered to be the best lady who prefers her home after marriage to their profession but you are great that you work as a banker either for a shorter period. I know you are working best as a steemian.

This dream came about when I saw how caring nurses are. They once cared for me when I was sick.

It is a great pleasure for me to see that during your childhood stage, you were having so many things in mine especially the one of becaming a nurse due to the experience and love shown to you after you had an accident that affected your hand to the extend that it was almost amputated but thank God our living God did not for sick you by using that nurse to care for and also umpiring you to gain that love for the job

Another dream that grew in my mind then was that of becoming a banker and a chartered accountant. Back then in my high school, I liked accounts so much. The stories that my teacher usually tell us about being a banker and an accountant really moved me

It is quit impressive to see that even in your second dream ,you were both supported by your brother and also gaining that experience in fidelity bank which has to led you to your second bank which was you intercontinental bank and also working like an ATM issuer really made you fill with a lot of experience
Couple with the fact that you got married to a very caring husband who took care of you by sending you to a higher education show how loving and caring he was to you and I greatly appreciate that dispite the fact that your dream stop due to fact that your family needed your attention since you already got married to a banker.

But how come you never mentioned you parents in support of your dreams or were they not in support of your dreams

It was not really an accident rather a wond that I can't even explain. But all the same, my hand wasn't amputated but a dream nurtured in my mind though unfulfilled. All the same, I am glad to have achieved one of my dreams. Thanks for your comment

Wao! It's good to know we shared the same interest growing up. I've always wanted to be an accountant, they was a time I switched into becoming a banker.

Kids can be very confused you know. Many things inform our choices as kid including the environment we find ourselves.

Do you still wish to pursue the dream of becoming a nurse in the nearest future? Well nothing is unachievable when we set our mind to do it.

Am so confident that you will achieve it,you have proven to be very committed and dedicated in all you do.... Thanks for sharing with us.

Regards.
