Hello everyone, good evening to you all, welcome back to my blog. On the 26th day of March 2024, I registered for the compulsory 1 year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) which is a 1 year program compulsory for every fresh graduate in my Country Nigeria. I was meant to go with April batch but there was an overflow and I was shifted to the next batch will is this month.

For the program, people are usually posted to a state different from their state of Origin to serve aside from Married women and people with life threatening sickness. I was posted to Akwaibom State, the land of promise. The program kicked start with a three weeks compulsory orientation program in the Orientation camp. My orientation Camp is located in Ikot.

On getting to the orientation Camp, my things were thoroughly searched by the soldiers, afterwards, I went through series of clearance where my credentials were checked thoroughly in order to know if there is any discrepancies. I started with thumb printing inorder for them to be sure that I was the one, after that I was given a state code and a platoon.

Platoon is your group throughout your stay in the Camp and the last number in your state code. NYSC Camp is interesting and frustrating at the same time. We wake up every morning by 4.00am to prepare and be in the parade ground for morning meditation and afterwards morning parade. The parade usually lasts for three hours and that is from 5am to 8am and afterwards we have breakfast from 8am to 9am and then the SAED lectures begins and ends by 2pm.

The next thing is lunch from 2pm to 3pm. We continue parade from 4pm to 6pm and then go back and have dinner and continue with social night which ends by 9.30pm and then lights out by 10pm. Camp is fun, the only issue I have here is sleeping late and waking up early and also doing parade and soldiers ordering you around.

Thanks for reading through my post.

Welcome to my state, Akwa Abasi Ibom State, have fun and enjoy your camp.
We are friendly and very accommodating here, so don't plan to go back to your own state after your service year, because everything you want is here🥰🥰🥰
