Capturing Moments Wk 8: Application 5 - Animal Photography
When I first studied Biology, I was told that man is a higher animal. I didn't believe it because I thought we have no affinity with animals that exist on Planet Earth. But I realize that animals on planet Earth have a kind of connection on linkage to human beings. As a result, animal photography can be proclaimed with a loud voice. Without much ado, let's get into the details.
What do I understand by the word "Animals"? |
---|
Animals in my understanding is a collection of creatures which has the potential of movement, feeding and other major characteristics known in MR-NIGERD. The acronym is used to denote the Characteristics of living things. It is important to note that plants also are living things but active movement and other characteristics differentiate them. In my study of Biology, I am made to understand that birds, fishes, insects, etc are all animals. They are known under an umbrella named Kingdom Animalia. Under this kingdom, there are subdivided into phylum, classes, orders, etc. Classification like Mammalia, Aves, Arthropoda, etc can be used to group this animals.
About the animal captured and the reason why? |
---|
The animal I captured here is Cow. According to what we know, these cows were brought in by the Northerners into my region. That's why they are the herd men controlling these cows. Cows are the major source of milk we use daily. We all know that Mammals like humans, goats, cows, etc produce milk. But, cow milk is the largest and one of the most nutritional valued ones. That's why we have to appreciate this animal because the milk we enjoyed daily is sourced from them. I choose to capture it to show it's unique physique
Was there any Challenge while capturing this animal? |
---|
For me, I didn't experience much issues while capturing this animal. The fact about cows is that they can be two-sided which is calm and aggressive. To stay on the safe side, one has to give distance while capturing to avoid fatality. The people working in slaughter houses can relate to this fact because they possess aggressiveness when attacked.

Difference while using Zoom in and Zoom out effects |
---|
While capturing this animal on my camera lens, I used two strategies which includes the zooming in and zooming out effect. On the zoom out effect, the environment was really displayed thank the cow itself. The reason was that I stood a distance which taking this shot.
On the zoom in effect, the cows were visible and the environment may be less pronounced than the previous one. All the same, there were great shots.
