Animal extinction are species of animals that do not have any existing living members either in a particular region or the universe. A lot of factors have made several species of animals go into extinction. These include; loss of habitat, disease, over-exploitation of wildlife for commercial purposes.

Thank you @solaymann for putting up this contest. I believe we'll be more educated on animals that are on extinction, factors influencing animals extinction as well as profer ways in which we can curtail to some point, the extinction of these animals.

Plants and animals are regarded as the caretakers of the earth. Animals in particularly plays vital role in the food chain. An alteration in the food chain supply will greatly affect the health of the ecosystem thus, affecting the earth as well. While extinction is normal as it is a part of the evolutionary process, the rate of decline in species of population and species extinction is alarming and these pose a serious threat to some vital ecological functions which support the human life here on earth.

Animals do not live in isolation but rather interact with each other and their immediate environment. In so doing, they provide a lot of benefits to humans like healthy soil for food production, clean air and water. When a particular species of animal goes into extinction, it's population drops so significantly that it can no longer support its function and as such, other species gets affected leaving behind, great impact on the ecosystem functions as well as the so many benefits it provides.

In Africa, most people poach animals to extract some vital components of their body. For example, the African forest elephant is being poached everyday for ivory. It is reported that about 55 of these elephants are being poached on a daily basis. This is very alarming because the number poached is far greater than the number being born.
The pangolins are being poached illegally for black market trade because its scales are believed to be used in traditional medicine and is alleged to cure various ailments.

If we do not take bold steps in ensuring we curtail the extinction of these animals, we will keep loosing life sustaining biodiversity at a fast and alarming rate which will sooner or later, lead to our planet being less able to support our current generation or the ones coming thereafter.

What steps would you take to prevent Animal extinction?

There are diverse ways we can ensure prevention of animal extinction. These include:

1. Getting involved through volunteering and active participation at my local nature center.
2. Reporting any wildlife harassment to my nearest forest guard office.
3. Learning about some endangered species in my locality and the different threats they are facing.
4. Refusing to patronize anything made from an endanger species.
5. Reducing the amount of pollution we generate.

Yes, friendly relationship with animals can prevent extinction to a larger extent. When we have a relationship with animals, there is always a mutual connection between us and them. The connection is so mutually that we will always be on the lookout for them. We will always ensure that we keep an eye on them to avoid anything from harming them. We will protect them at all cost and not do stuffs that will affect their existence.
So, yes... Friendly relationships with animals can prevent extinction.
