A crane lived on the banks of a sparkling river next to a huge forest. He was very strong, calm, thoughtful, and beautiful. He had snow-white feathers, long legs, and sharp beaks. He enjoyed his surroundings, stood in the river for a long time fished patiently, and lived a simple life. He was quite content with this life of his and his days were passing very beautifully. Far away from the river, in a dense forest, a black crow lived in a huge tree. The crow was a very clever, lively, and always busy animal. He sat on the highest branch of the tree and called loudly to his company, and he always ate leftover food. Besides, he always kept himself busy by arguing or discussing with other animals.

There was a friendship between the crane and this crow. The crow would often notice the crane standing still in the middle of the river water and looking at the sky for a long time. The crow was very curious about the sight of his friend . One day he asked the crane, "Friend, why are you standing alone in the water? And what do you think about all day long while standing in the river water and looking at the sky?" The crow also said, "Come with me, friend, enjoy my life for a day and see how spontaneous my life is. We roam around the trees, fly through the branches of the forest, spend time with different animals of the forest and eat various kinds of delicious food." In reply, the crane smiled lightly and said, “Thank you very much, friend. But I am enjoying my life here very well, my friend. I am living under the open sky, feeling nature and standing in the clear water, I can see the beautiful view of the underwater world and I can satisfy my hunger by catching fish as per my need. This is a place of peace for me and I am very happy here. In reply, the crow smiled a lot and said, “Friend, you may not understand that you are living a monotonous life. There is no spontaneity in this life, this life is very lifeless. You come with me, I will show you what it means to live.” Then the crane bird also got a little curious and he accepted the offer of his friend the crow and agreed to go with him.

The crane went deep into the forest with his friend, but when he saw many birds there, they were screaming very loudly, jumping from one branch to another, feeling happy eating the seeds and fruits of various fruits lying on the ground. The crane was being introduced to the friends of the crow in the forest. His friends were all talking very loudly and joking with each other which often took the form of arguments. The crane did not like eating some of the fruit they had given him. The crow's friends were in awe of the crane's beauty and were praising each other. He whispered, “Why is the crane being so quiet?” The other replied sarcastically, “I think he can’t speak properly.” The crane could hear everything but he was silently enduring it. He was

gradually not feeling well in this environment and he was missing his world a lot in his heart. His friend the Crow understood this state of mind and said, “Give some more time to yourself, maybe you will be able to adapt to this environment.” The crow also said, “Crane, isn’t our life much more beautiful than your lonely and boring life? You do the same thing every day, go the same way, and you can’t gain any new experience in life. Our life is much more lively than yours and you can enjoy it.” Now the crane said, “Friend, I enjoyed a day of my life like your life as you said. I liked it a lot. Now I want you to enjoy my life for a day and gain some experience in my life.” The crow readily agreed to this proposal.

The crow went with his friend to a part of the river bank where he lives. The crane said to his friend the crow, “Friend, stand under this open sky, you will enjoy this peaceful nature. Look at that vast sky that will make your mind very happy. Standing in this peaceful environment and looking at the sky, the crow felt a sense of peace. Then the crane took him to the clear water of the river and said, “Look under the water, how clear and beautiful the water is flowing, listen carefully to the beautiful soft sound. Look at the beautiful fish playing under the water, look at the beautiful pebbles shimmering next to it. For a while, the two stood there thinking and the crane quickly picked up a fish from the river water with its sharp beak. After witnessing this scene, the crow was totally shocked. He placed the fish before the

crow and said smilingly, “now friend you try this tasty fish and tell me how the taste is?” The crow was very pleased and he ate it with great pleasure. Then crow very calmly and respectfully looked at his friend Crane and said, “But this life still seems quite lonely to me.”

Crane looked to the the crow, smiled and replied, “This life may seem lonely to you, but for me, this life is a peaceful life.” He also said, “I forget the loneliness through the sounds of birds, the lively silence below the open sky, the gentle sound of water, and the calm breeze of the wind.” The crow sat on the river bank for a long time without saying a word and was watched his friend. He deeply felt on that moment that this nature is the best way of life for his friend. This would be a place where he can discover himself and gain life with relief that can shaped a new world for him.

Before leaving the place of the crane, the crow said to his best friend, “Today I learned a great lesson from you, dear. We live in different worlds, which are unsimilar from each to other, but both worlds have their own uniqueness and beauty. This different atmosphere brings peace and satisfaction to our life’’. From that day, their friendship became more deeper, and they had a great bond. For the rest of their life they never tried to change each other.

The lesson we learn from this story is that each of us may have different preferences, desires, or environments in which to find peace. What one of us likes may not be as the what another likes. Each of us has different kinds of needs, preferences, and also different thoughts, so we should always respect each other’s preferences. We should learn from everyone’s different opinions and preferences through which we can gain new experiences.
