Amazing animals only found in Africa
Hi guys, today I'm going to be talking about five animals that are only found in Africa.
- African Civet
- Grey Crowned Crane
- Guereza colobus
- Klipspringer
- African Wild Dog
Being the largest member of its genus, the African Civet, may be found in Sub-Saharan Africa. With a raccoon-like face, a long cat-like body, and spotted hair, it's a strange-looking creature. Civets are nocturnal mammals that consume both small animals and vegetation. It secretes a musk that is exceedingly unpleasant in concentrated form but has long been used in diluted form in luxury perfumes. Synthetic musk is becoming more popular among perfumers.
The Grey Crowned Crane is a massive and majestic bird found in Africa's marshes. Adults are around 3.5 feet long from head to tail, with a wingspan of 5 to 6 feet. They eat insects, amphibians, fish, seeds, and grass, among other things. They are one of only two crane species that can perch due to their huge hind toe. They typically build nests in trees to avoid predators.
The African woodlands are home to this monkey. They spend all of their time in trees, jumping from one to the next by jumping from branch to limb. They've been seen to jump up to 50 feet in the air! Like all colobus monkeys, the Guereza lacks thumbs and has two stomachs, similar to cows. Their favorite food is young tree leaves. They may, however, eat older leaves and plants that would generally be toxic due to their unusual gut.
Klipspringer is a little antelope that tends to live in difficult conditions. They are the only species of antelope that walk on the tips of their hooves. As a result, they can get a better grip on smooth rock surfaces. Klipspringers mate for life and are monogamous. They will only transfer partners if one of them dies.
Unlike most canid species, the African Wild Dog only has four toes. Among other habitats, it comprises woodlands, grasslands, forests, semi-desert, mountains, and bushy savannahs. Despite their vast habitat, these species are considered endangered. Their extinction has been attributed to habitat loss, disease, poaching, and the lion and hyena hunting. Lions often try to kill as many Wild Dogs as they can to minimize competition for resources, especially food.
Thanks for your attention guys. Hope I created some awareness.
