Windows 11

source

Windows 11 is the latest installment from Microsoft and YES you heard me right Windows 11. Microsoft had previously announced that they won't be making another iteration for the operating system and that windows 10 would be the last major version. Check the Windows 11 teaser in the attached video.

Microsoft released Windows 11 after almost 6 years after the release of Windows 10 in a virtual event held on June 24th of this year.

System Requirements

These are specifications for being officially supported by Microsoft.

SpecificationsDetails
Processor:1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
RAM:4 gigabyte (GB)
Storage:64 GB or larger storage device Note: See below under “More information on storage space to keep Windows 11 up-to-date” for more details.
System firmware:UEFI, Secure Boot capable
TPM:Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
Graphics card:Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
Display:High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per colour channel
Internet connection and Microsoft accounts:Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use. Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode also requires internet connectivity. Learn more about S mode here. For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is required to perform updates and to download and take advantage of some features. A Microsoft account is required for some features.

Most of the requirements provided here are minimal but the thing that makes most PC unsupported is TPM. Trusted Platform Module is a security feature implemented in Soc Level, We won't be discussing more on that topic but on how to install Windows 11 on a computer without TPM 2.0.

Installation

Follow these simple steps to bypass the TPM check and Install Windows 11, also Windows 11 is still in development stage so Installing this right now is really not recommended. You may proceed with the installation at your own risk. Detailed Installation Instruction can be found at xda-developers. I can confirm that these steps works and that I have Installed it using these steps.

Review

First of all let me say that is quite stable for an insider release and you will definitely feel the GUI changes. One of the first change that I noticed was that shift of the start button and taskbar apps to the centre on the taskbar.

The start menu looks modern too. The build is very responsive and I only found minor bugs on it and if you ask me I am very satisfied with the performance with my computer.

Sadly I can confirm that this build does not currently support running android apps as advertised in the teaser, maybe it's still being tested. This was one of that feature that I was looking forward the most.

Review

Let me conclude by saying that I am loving the experience so far and this update really feels like a good refreshment to the OS. If you guys want to know anything specific about the install you may ask them in the comments. Thank you for reading.
