Learn With Steem | What Is Plagiarism, and How To Refrain From It - Wriiten By Bright-obias For steemit Nursery steemians
Hello, steemians of this wonderful blockchain. Welcome today to this article. In recent days, @endingplagiarism and her team have been doing great work in detecting posts with plagiarism. Today, I have come up with this write-up that will help our new steemians in this community to make a quality post without indulging in this act.
Plagiarism - What Do You Think?
As a blogger and a content developer, I'm sure you might have heard about the word 'Plagiarism'. Today some persons see plagiarism as copying and borrowing peoples idea but looking at the two words 'Copy' & 'Borrow' it can actually make the act look more offense less whereby it is a serious offense.
Plagiarism to my own knowledge is more likely to be stealing, presenting other people's work, idea, or product as your own without giving an actual source or even crediting the original source. This single act can also be seen as a fraudulent activity because it involves stealing the work and also lying instead of crediting the source.
Every Content developer should comprehend this manners and vow to keep the principles according to their profession. You might be confused about this term, thereby raising some unending questions in your subconscious mind, if really; words and ideas can be stolen?
yes! words and ideas can acctually be stolen. based on some laws, I would say yes! Because people's ideas and projects are very important and are mostly considered as intellectual property that are been protected by copyright laws, just like other inventions that are original. This is actually because they are been recorded in ways like books and computer files. Below are some aspects of plagiarism.
- Direct Plagiarism
- Mosaic Plagiarism
- Self Plagiarism and
- Accidental Plagiarism
These are the major forms of plagiarism and all are highly prohibited In as much as you are a content developer. In content development, it could be the development of images, videos, or even music. So as much as this; if you are presenting an original content, maybe you fill like adding some music, videos, or even picture like we normally do here on steem, if permission is not taken from the real source, it means you have engaged in the act of plagiarism.
How Does Steemit Platform React To This Attitude
What do you think steemit as a blockchain base and a social media blogging platform will react to this attitude of not being original? Of course, you know, every steemian today must have come across The steemit Content Etiquette where every blogger is given the chance to write and understand that the platform is highly in prohibition with plagiarism.
But it's funny enough to see many steemians especially the newcomers indulging in it, even where writing the Achievement 3 task. That's too pathetic, that's why I decided to articulate this here. The steemit platform does not like content that is not original and would not reward any steemian that will be caught on this web, instead, you will risk yourself of being downvoted which can also deprive you from succeeding on the platform.

As we all know every person that is caught doing the undo will be punished, so it is here. There are consequences that plagiarism can give a content developer. In regards to steemit check these important two here 👇
- Loss Of Reputation
- Expulsion
There are other consequences of indulging in plagiarism, but the aforementioned are basically for the steemit platform. let's talk about them briefly.
Loss of Reputation
As a steemain if you are caught in this act it can result in Loss of Reputation. How will it happen? If you are been caught in this web, you risk yourself being downvoted from any of the big accounts, and if this happens your reputation will decrease and you know steemians with low reputation are regardless in this platform. Here is a clear example.
I happened to be a victim of this heading. I first joined steemit around 2018 with the username @brightobias and was steeming without basic knowledge of how the platform works 😂. So, unfortunately, I engaged in plagiarism and was caught by some robots called @cheetah and the @steemcleaners; then my account was flagged and any post from me was going to be downvoted. I was with a reputation of 56 but because of that single act, I turned 10 reputations.
Expulsion
This act can also result in banning you from steemit. As you know very well, there are many projects going on the steemit platform and being supported by the steemit team. So as a content developer, if you're caught in the web of plagiarism, you risk yourself being ban from this wonderful platform.
I Want To Avoid Plagiarism! How Can I Do That?
It is very important that we develop original content this is because it builds our reputation within the platform and it also boosts our writing abilities.
